Pooch Plunge!

It’s time to “let the dogs out” once again! Join Wet Zone and the Friends of Rowlett Animals as we once again host Doggie Swim Day! Cost is $5 per dog, humans get in free! Each dog will need their Rabies tags or paper copies of vaccinations to participate. This year’s event will be hosted by Friends of Rowlett Animals and all proceeds from ticket sales will be used to assist animals in the Rowlett area.

So much fun even though Baxter isn't the strongest swimmer! He definitely loved seeing all the dogs! (Plus we won some raffles!!)

I drove by this place on Saturday after taking my dogs to the Garland pool. This locale looked MUCH more dog friendly for my little Yorkies with plentiful shallow options and things to float on. They were a bit overwhelmed at the Garland pool with all the big dogs and no shallow area and very little shade. Wished we could've made it to the Wet Zone on Sunday but rain kept us away (my dogs were grateful). We'll try for next year and hopefully have some life jackets as well.

This event was so fun!! I was so relieved to find out this was on off leash event-- my two GSPs loved sprinting around being chased by the other dogs, then cooling off in the water! I will definitely go next year if there is another... They should sell those doggy life jackets I saw a lot of people with; they would make a killing for their cause, as I am sure lots of folks would want one after seeing how great they worked with dogs who could not swim well but wanted to get in the waster.
FYI-- I actually attended one of these events 2 summers ago near Grapvine and they made us keep the dogs on leashes the whole time-- it was stupid, not to mention a waste of time, gas and entry fee since we left after ten minutes!

So glad I waited out the storms before going back to Oklahoma. It was awesome. Best part, my Sebastian over came his fear of 2 years and swam.

I didn't go - it was raining pretty heavily at my house at 2:30. Tried to cancel, but Meetup site was down (really! No lie!). I hope everyone had fun.

This will be on off leash event right? I went to one of these in grapevine last year and it was really dumb- they required all dogs to be on leashes 100% of time... even in the water!

The event is still on, weather says it should be out by 4pm!

It looks like the weather should push through by the time the event starts, but that is a good question.

I'd so love to do these, but my dog is terrified of water! She won't even walk in puddles! :)

Just some FYI on the sat and Sunday dog swims.
The Garland swim is great for first timers because it is nice and small. Also, has handicap ramp for humans and their pets. You do not have to worry about losing sight of your dog. The ROWLETT swim is great for those first timers and are semi-worry about how your pet will do in a middle size water-park. Especially if you are thinking about doing Hawaiian Falls -Garland in Sept. It is really fun to see the dogs in the lazy river floating with their owners.
The Sat group puts on the best event and is our favorite. Rowlett is not far from Plano. Also you can take George Bush almost all the way to their door. And if you go to the one on sat you will most likely see some of the same pets and people. This one is short and works well for those that have church or work in the am. Both of these groups try to have some items to drink or eat. However, I still take my own in addition to cash to spend.

We went to one in Richarson last year and it was great! I wish there was one closer to Plano though. Anyone know of one of these dog swims happening nearer to Plano?

You can opt to do Rowlett Wet Zone on Sunday - that's 4-7. That's a really laid back fun dog swim.
