If you are up for some hiking and creek walking you may want to come to the Spring Creek Cooldown. This is the coolest outdoor activity to do during this heat wave. You may be surprised how cool it is with the forrest canape providing dense cover.
This natural gem is close to GB Tollway on Shiloh Rd. between Campbell and Arapaho. Look for the Fred E. Harris park sign next to a large apartment complex. Park there. You will see the group close by. I will be there between 8:30-8;45. We will start walking at around 9.
This event will start with a walk through Spring Creek Forrest preserve. Parts of the hike will be in the creek itself so wear old sneakers with aggressive tread for traction.
The hike will take around 60-90 minutes. Some parts of the hike may be moderately difficult. Getting in and out of the creek area requires navigating rather steep inclines. Afterwards we will hang out in the creek fetching sticks. I might let my dogs play too.
Bring a pair of shoes to wear afterwards and a plastic bag to put your wet ones in.
After we work up an appetite let's head over to Taco Cabana on Shiloh near 635. They are very dog friendly and have great food.
