As with any other group rules are for the benefit of everyone, and in the best interest of GDP, we instituted the following rules:

GENERAL RULES
These rules apply to all meetup events ("Events"), as well as GDP Meetup website in general.

RULE 1: Membership Profile (See below for more details)
Please use your own name and own picture. In order for your membership to be approved, your profile must contain a CLOSE UP/PORTRAIT PHOTO of YOU - not a pet, avatars, masks, icons, cartoon characters, animals etc. and ALL profile questions must be answered.

Your profile photo and profile questionnaire help organizers and other members connect with you. Posting a photo allows us to recognize you when you attend an event, and the information you provide helps people start conversations with you.

When members post CLOSE UP/PORTRAIT PHOTO of themselves and fill out their Member Profile, it's the start of a healthy professional relationship with fellow group members. And, it helps immensely in everyone's ability to expand their network of connections and make friends within a group.

RULE 2: Being Active in the Group!
There are two ways to stay active in the Group.

A. Participate on the Group site on Meetup.com! How?

* Vote in the Polls
* Read and post your own ideas on the home page (see link 'Have an idea for a Meetup?')
* Post on the Message Boards (This is a good way to get the ball rolling on events.)
* Update your Profile (Please answer all of the questions so we can get to know you.)
* RSVP to Events
* Post an Idea
* Fill Out Your Post-Event Survey
* Please respond to emails, that were sent by Group officers, directly to you, with the intention of resolving a Group related issue. Typically, such an email concerns NoShows

Please log onto the site at least once a month. We assume that a Member that has not visited the GDP site in over three months has abandoned the Group. Please contact the Organizer if you anticipate a long absence but wish to remain a Group member.

B. Attend an Event! An RSVP is required for most events.

RULE 3: Please RSVP for Events & Meetups!
Why RSVP? This let the Group Organizer, Event Organizer and other Group Members know whether or not to expect you, as well as gauge interest in the event for the future. What do the RSVP?s mean?

[Yes:] I plan to be there. You can count on me to attend. I look forward to it.
[Maybe:] I am not sure if I can attend but I hope to make it. (Please update your RSVP to Yes or No once you know for sure.)
[No:] I am sorry but I am unable to attend this event.

Comments! Please feel free to include Comments in your RSVP such as the following.

* I'd love to attend but have other plans.
* Looking forward to the next event.
* Looking forward to it.
* I need a ride?.
* I can give [insert name] a ride?.
* Bad day to attend (i.e. gotta work, etc.)
* Not fond of the activity/restaurant/venue
* Too far away

1. EVENT START TIME
(a)For all Meetup Events, the Event Organizer, at his/her sole discretion, may wait for late-comers at the designated meeting place no longer than 10 minutes after the scheduled event start time, after which, the group shall proceed with the Event.

(b)Neither the Event Organizer nor the GDP Meetup group is responsible for anyone missing an Event due to late arrival and/or failure to meet-up with the group.

RULE 4: Not Turning Up
Although it would be nice, you don't have to turn up for every meeting. Often we would wait for all the RSVP'ed member arrivals. To stop unnecessary delays for the benefit of the whole group any member RSVP'ed 3 consecutive occasions but not turned up will be automatically rejected and you will be removed from the Group, possibly without notice.

RULE 5: Site Use

IMAGE COPYRIGHT POLICY

All photos posted in GDP Meetup photos galleries remain the property of the original photographer, who, by posting his/her photos on the GDP Meetup website, automatically grants GDP Organisers limited license to utilize said photos for the sole purpose of display on the GDP website, wherever and whenever the Organisers deem appropriate; this includes deletion of photos, the act of which terminates the limited license. Photographs may not be copied, manipulated, or otherwise altered (excluding deletion) by anyone, without permission of the photograph's owner.

Photo galleries can be created by Organisers and Assistant Organisers ONLY. No Member may create their own personal photo galleries in our Photos area. Member photos may only be posted to the appropriate event, class, or monthly galleries, per the rules of those galleries.

Any Member posting photographs on the GDP Meetup website is subject to Australian and international copyright laws, including punishment and/or fines related to any violations thereof. The Organisers shall not be held liable or responsible for any and all copyright violations or disputes related to photographs posted by Members on the GDP Meetup website.

Any content of the GDP Meetup site, including forum messages, but exclusive of Member-posted photographs, content provided by Meetup, Inc., and content sourced from third parties, may be altered or edited at the sole discretion of the Organisers. Organisers have total and complete editorial control over the content of the GDP meetup site, and have the right to remove or delete any content at their sole discretion.

In order attend and negotiate with some of the events, Organisers require all members agree to provide their photos as 'copyright free images'. This means use the photos without having to pay the photographer a usage fee. In this instance, the photographer still owns the copyright to the image and can use or sell them elsewhere. Example of this where we are offered free tickets, attendance, better seating, free lunch or what ever by the event owners in return to use of the images taken on the same event by our member photographers. Organisers are not obligated to inform members for each and every time if and when this arrangement occurs.

All content of the GDP Meetup website, exclusive of Member-posted photographs, content provided by Meetup, Inc., and content sourced from third parties, are the intellectual property of Faruk Ozturkmen, who hold the copyrights and trademarks thereof.

RESTRICTION TO OWNING A DIGITAL SLR

All members are required to own a digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras. Please see this page for sample of acceptable and not acceptable cameras for joining this Meetup Group first.

In order to stimulate, share and help our members knowledge common to all we all use same camera types. You can imagine someone with a compact digital camera would be out of place and probably very quickly bored when members are talking about topics like shutter speeds, apertures, ISO range and depth of field to name a few. Same applies with the owners of SLR cameras they would be out of place when talking about digital compact cameras. To better understand this please consider this example. For example you would not join a Classic Car club if you own a Hot Rod Club and visa verse.

That's all there is to it.

If you are interested in photography and want it to be your hobby then do your self a favor and get yourself a Digital SLR. There are numerous videos to start you off on our website including topics why you should buy digital SLR from very basic to advance level - all FREE.

Good luck
