• Therapeutic Thursday - Come Thirsty for SB Happy Hour

Sorry for the short notice - never know how the week may go! The weather will likely be a bit frightful, but taking a break from the hustle & bustle to enjoy a warm beverage could be a good idea. No particular focused activity for this event. Come for coloring, writing prose, origami, knitting, or whatever makes you happy. We can chat about what you're grieving, church wounding experiences (I'll listen - been there), or just quietly sit and enjoy our chosen activity. It will be a Starbucks Happy Hour Thursday, too - until 7 pm! (www.starbucks.com/rewards) Time of this event is tentative but within that range. Therapeutic as in 1. having a healing effect; tending to make a person healthier 2. causing someone to feel happier and more relaxed or to be more healthy (Cambridge Dictionary)

  • Coloring

    Baskin Robbins / Dunkin' Donuts

Let's start the weekend with some coloring! Bring something to color and something to color with. Books, pencils, etc. are available in craft stores, bookstores, and other retail outlets. If there's a Dollar Tree near you, they might have everything you need! Recently saw they had a great variety of coloring books for all ages & colored pencils, erasers, sharpeners, etc. There may be some designs available online that could be printed out, too. It's going to be a pretty warm weekend so let's cool off with some ice cream! Baskin Robbins has those 31 flavors from which to choose. There is also a Dunkin' Donuts attached (or is BR attached to DD? I dunno), so that is another option for a sweet treat! We will most likely be indoors for this event but the weather (as of this posting) appears to be safe to drive in. https://darksky.net/details/29.7589,-95.3677/2019-8-8/us12/en As we get settled, we'll introduce ourselves, acknowledge what type of grief we're journeying through (sharing details is optional), and an adjective or two about how you're feeling at the moment. Regardless of whether you color within the lines or out...if you finish filling in all the areas or not...that doesn't matter...it's in the coloring itself that is relaxing and healing!

  • Coloring

    Cafe Express

Let's do some coloring for this inaugural event! There are no foreseen problems with parking or seating. Park anywhere in the lot or by the restaurant. There (might) be a sign or something for the table. Otherwise, just look for the cool people coloring! Bring something to color and something to color with. Conveniently, there's a Dollar Tree a few doors down with everything you need! They have a great variety of coloring books for all ages & colored pencils, erasers, sharpeners, etc. There may be some designs available online that could be printed out, too. Cafe Express has good food with pretty reasonable prices. Also, a nice selection of teas and fountain drinks.
