We girls are all guilty of having too many clothes that we do not wear! So raid your wardrobe for those items you love but no longer fit, or those things you wore once and are still waiting for another occasion to wear, or the clothes you have never worn and forgot to return. Give your pre-loved clothes a chance to fulfil their destiny on someone else who will wear them and save them from a boring life at the back of your closet!!
Exchange them for other clothes you’re more likely to wear.
Cost: 5 Euros per person entrance fee payable at the door (proceeds to The Hub)
What to bring: good condition women's clothes, shoes, accessories and under garments...a little or a lot, bring what you've got (aim for at least 2 items per person but there's no maximum number).
How it works: Turn up with your clothes that you want to give away, help us sort them into categories around the room (coats, trousers, blouses, shoes etc.) Then we start browsing through the clothes for items we like. There’s no limit to what you can take home but please use some restraint, just take clothes that you will realistically wear.
If there are any 'fights' for an item we'll ask the contesting ladies to try the garment on and we can vote for who it suits best and they can keep it.
Why attend: it’s a great way to recycle clothes, a fun afternoon with the ladies, and a chance to revamp your wardrobe for only 5 Euros!
Any clothes left over at the end of the day will be donated to a woman's shelter or charity.
We hope to see you and your fabulous clothes at The Hub!!
Q: Can I sell my clothes at the clothes swap?
A: No, you can use marktplaats for this!
Q: Do I have to swap each garment directly for another garment?
A: No, you bring along whatever you want to get rid of, hand it in, we hang it up/arrange it in the room, then we all browse to find things we like
Q: Can I only take away the same number of garments that I brought?
A: You may take more or less items home than you brought along, but please don't take away clothes that you won't wear or think you can sell. That's not the point of this event.
Q: What type of clothes can I bring?
A: Women's clothing and accessories: coats, shoes, jumpers, jeans, ball gowns, hats, scarves, pyjamas, gloves, belts, t-shirts, skirts, jewellery, underwear, swimwear, dresses, cardigans, trousers...if you can wear it bring it along!
Q: What condition clothes will you accept?
A: New, barely worn or pre-loved clothes that are still in good condition. If you would be proud to let a friend borrow it then it’s good enough condition, if not keep it for doing gardening/DIY!
Q: What if I don't find anything I want to take home?
A: We don't think this will happen if we have enough participants and clothes, but if you don't take anything away you have still had a fun afternoon with the girls, cleared out your own wardrobe, supported your Hub and a local woman's charity...you may even make some new friends.
Q: Can I try clothes on?
A: There are mirrors along the walls in The Hub so feel free to try things on before you take them away, but be aware there are no fitting rooms
Q: Will the clothes be arranged in clothes size?
A: Probably not, we're not a clothes shop! We'll sort by clothing categories so you may have to rummage a little to find things in your own size, but this is part of the fun
Q: What if I have clothes to donate but I cannot make the event?
A: You can drop them off at the Hub prior to the event and we'll be sure to include them in the swap
Q: Can I help out?
A: Sure, we'd love some help unpacking/arranging the clothes on the day, and distributing the leftover items to the woman's charity
Q: Can men attend this meetup?
A: Sorry, this is a ladies only event. Blokes – feel free to organize your own similar event another day.
