NYC Press Conference and Global Protest for NYC's Horse-Drawn Carriage Horses
PRESS CONFERENCE and Global Protest for NYC's Horse-Drawn Carriage Horses at 1:00PM
This is a very important Press Conference for NYC's horse-drawn carriage horses. Please take a short time out of your day to attend and stand up for the carriage horses. While we see the horses working in congested traffic city streets during the day, we must gather that the conditions of their housing, in so called "stables" are no better.
Please join Mary Xanthos, DVM, and City Council person Tony Avella, (D), Queens, NY who authored and introduced Bill Intro. 658-A to Ban the horse-drawn carriages and held a public Hearing on Horse-Drawn Carriages at City Hall, "The time has come to ban this industry", http://www.youtube.co... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH8bLkCl_4c)
Sponsored by the Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages, http://banhdc.org/... (http://banhdc.org/), Friends of Animals, http://www.friendsofa... (http://www.friendsofanimals.org/actionline/spring-2009/History_Horses.php)
and Heart for Animals, http://www.meetup.com... (http://www.meetup.com/HeartsforAnimals/calendar/11416487/)
We will stand together for a Global support for a ban on horse-drawn carriages, Horses Without Carriages International Day, http://horseswithoutc... (http://horseswithoutcarriages.org/) "A horse should not be forced to work between the shafts of his carriage for many hours per day, with a metal bit in his mouth, a diaper tied to his rear, blinders blocking his view, ear plugs, and sometimes a muzzle."
Other cities in the U.S. joining us include Chicago, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, St. Augustine, Atlanta, and International cities include Rome, Dublin, Florence, Vienna, Belgrade, Montreal, Canada, and Victoria British Columbia.
