THE LEFT BANK'S FOLK MUSIC JAM!

Our Own Little Folk Band!

The Left Bank has its own little folk band.  We rehearse on Saturday nights at a tiny private house in Balboa, approximately every three weeks.  What kind of music do we like?  Folk, medieval, Renaissance, Celtic, Andes, Gypsy jazz, bluegrass, activism, experimental--a mix of acoustic stuff.  We alternate improvisation and repertoire.  At every jam you may bring a couple of songs of your choice, with lyrics, chords and 10 copies.  We're also interested in combining music and nature--hiking with our instruments, playing on branches, stones, and creating our own sounds.  We're looking for singers and acoustic instruments: guitars, lutes, banjos, harps, flutes, tin whistles, harmonicas, cellos, bass, viola de gamba, violins, fiddles, mandolins, tambourines, medieval instruments, percussions, winds, keyboards.... You don't have to be an expert musician to join.  Just have a good ear, basic music/chord reading skills and a love for acoustic music!  Space is limited, neighbors are close: please don't bring your tuba, full drum set or bunch of friends.

Cost: FREE.  You may bring your own bottle or something to share.  Please be respectful of the resident's home.

Here are a few examples of music we enjoy (click on titles):

Fun to sing, learn some new songs and be with great musicians.

Since Alex RSVP'd and my friend stayed up too late last night, it'll just be me for me. :-)

I'll be bringing two people, but for some reason Meetup won't let me change my RSVP to reflect this. Looking forward to seeing you all and having a musical good time!

Actually, I'm one of the people Mark's bringing. I'd have RSVPed if I knew he needed me to.
