I think the numbers were fine too, and the odd bit of bumping just added to the general joy of jigging!

I had an absolutely fantastic evening and it was so well organised I came on my own , feeling a little self conscious but felt immediately at ease. The numbers in my view were fine We needed a crowd and only had tricky moments when we didn't get the moves. Thank you so much. So looking forward to the next one Maria xx

Fantastic Louise! Thank you soooooo much. We had a blast! My only reservation was that wE thought there were a tad too many people as it was sometimes a little tricky on the dance floor ie in terms of bumping into each other. Your calling was brilliant and , yes, 'Kalinka' is also my favourite dance song. perhaps ask other members if they thought the numbers were right.

A brilliant evening. We really enjoyed ourselves, loved the happy faces, dancing with everyone and no kids.

Hi Louise . I can't make the evening after all and have bought a ticket. Would anyone like to buy it and is it possible to transfer to another person?

Hi Julie, Sorry you can't make it. We're not offering refunds, but if you know someone who'd like it, you can pass/sell it on. Lou x

I hadn't seen it. Sorry. I think it was 19.45 h when the Rant access is opened so 18.45 h in the Nirth Lane Pub would be good to me,.. what do you think?

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anybody has decided to meet up before the Rant as William suggested some days ago. Because I would be happy to join you! I think it would be a very nice way to start to feel the atmosphere of this venue .As I only know about this dance what I have watched in youtube so I would appreciate to have the chance to talk to other people attending the Rant ....just to get a little more relaxed.

The North Laine pub is your nearest (almost next door). You could stock up on dutch courage there. I'm really sorry I won't be able to meet you beforehand. However, please don't worry - you won't be alone. I do lots of mixer dances and it's easy! I walk you through every dance first…and if it goes wrong, we all just laugh, blame me and do it all again :) Promise it'll be a lot of fun!

Oh great, now I'm really in a quandary, I've just got a ticket but not one for my +1 & now my notification has gone & I can not get it back. See you all tomorrow, I'll either be wanting a ticket or giving one away. Ho hum, it's still going to be a good night in Brighton either way. VP.

Have I paid Louise? It looks like it, but I can't remember paying, it was so long ago. I was hoping to have paid for two.

Hi ok thats great - I am just hoping that we will be met and be there as a group - mainly as I am going alone.
    Thanks

Hi Jackie and Maria. Here's a suggestion. There are three very good pubs within a stone's throw of the venue, The Basketmakers, The Eagle and the North Laine. What if some of you agree to meet up before the Rant starts in one of them, say around 6, to say hi to each other? I'm sure we'd be there too, only we're a very small team setting up the event and we'll be running around setting up the venue before the show starts...

Hi jackie I'm going alone too so share your pain. ! Hopefully will be good fun and easy to join in. Maria

Hi is this dance just for our group and do we just turn up and it all starts happening?

    1 · April 27, 2014

    • Louise W.

Hi Jackie, it's not just for our Meetup group, but we've set it up so that this is the only place you can buy advance tickets. We'd really like to create a community, rather than nameless crowds who arrive and never meet again. There are some tickets which will be sold on the door to the general public on a first come, first served basis. Since you've paid for your ticket already, all you need to do is to turn up at 7.45pm when the doors open and give your name to the lovely Chrissie who's our Front of House gal. She'll have a list of all those who've bought tickets and will let you in to enjoy the evening. There'll be music playing when you go in and the bar will be serving. When there's a good number inside (or just after 8pm) the dancing and Ranting will begin. Any more questions, please just let me know. Lou x

Hi I have only watch this kind of dance on TV shows. Do you think there will be any chance to be taugh the basics rules? and have a try there?

    1 · March 20, 2014

    • Louise W.

Hi Jon, Please don't worry if you haven't done this type of dancing before. There will be lots of people in this situation. I call the dances, which means that before we do each dance - I teach the moves and walk you through them. It might seem daunting before you go, but you'll definitely pick it up quickly. It doesn't matter if you get it wrong either - that's half the fun. It would be great to see you there. :)

hi Louise, this event sounds great, i have in the past done some barn dancing & was recently at a show where the first two numbers were Country & Weston & i found myself wanting to get on stage & join in. last year i was planned to go to Scotland & whilst there attend this kind of event but our organiser fell sick two days before & i have felt unfulfilled ever since. i'm in need of the exercise, & love the music, i'm sure it will be amazing. c u there. VP.

Hey Veryan, Ceilidhs are always a blast if you get the right mix of people, ale and music. I really hope you enjoy Rant and can make it along for our first ever event :)

We just put our heads together Eleanor. It seems that it's the best way to do it, I'm afraid. The last one we did at BHASVIC we were hoping for 150 people and ended up with almost 300 and we've very conscious that if you get too many people coming we'll cramp valuable dance space. We were considering selling tickets ONLY on the door, which would be less hassle, but we're also aware that people some come from quite a long way away to dance and they're not happy to travel that far unless they know they'll get in. So this is the best compromise, I'm afraid.

    1 · March 20, 2014

    • Eleanor

Ah ok William, in that case I will just wait until nearer the time, if the tickets sell out c'est la vie!!

      1 · March 20, 2014

    • Louise W.

Thanks for asking the question though Eleanor - it's good for us to consider how we do things :)

      1 · March 20, 2014

  • Rachel

I'm really excited about this. Ceilidh dancing is my favourite thing ever and since we moved here almost 2 years ago we don't get so much chance to do it. We're part of One Church and I'm hoping to get a bunch of people together to come.

    2 · March 20, 2014

    • Louise W.

Hey Rachel, Really glad you've found us. It should be such a good event and we were blown away by the hall! We also love the community work that the hall hire fees are funding. Ben ( project manager) gave us a brief insight. WIll be great if a group of you come along. :)

      March 20, 2014

  • william s.

Hmm. Sorry Eleanor. That's not great. We're trying to work this out after going live with it yesterday. We're trying to use this as a system where people can buy online in advance - because with a capacity of 80 we're concerned there won't be much available on the door. So the trouble is that if people just say, "I will attend" but then don't turn up, we may end up holding tickets for them when there are other members of the public waiting outside to get in. Stay with us and we'll get back to you after putting our heads together!

    March 20, 2014

  • Eleanor

Why do you say tickets to be bought at the door of the event, but won't accept my 'will attend' unless I pay £6.00?!!!!
