Hello, and thanks for checking us out! "The Vine" is a group of single Christians in and around St. Augustine. We meet together in a variety of settings to pray, worship, fellowship, break bread, watch movies, discuss topics, attend local events, go on day trips, and find creative ways of ministering to those around us in the name of Jesus. The group is interdenominational. We are not a church, but simply a place where believers can go to encourage and be encouraged. You should be a Christian to join, but members are welcome to invite guests to our events who are "seeking" and wanting to know more about our faith. As "salt and light", we want to impact our area for Christ and bring his love to all who will receive it. Sound good? Join us! :)
"I am the Vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." - Jesus (John 15:5)
Single Christians of all ages are welcome to join.
Single = single, divorced, or widowed. In other words, not legally married.
Christian = anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior, and desires to walk in fellowship with Him, daily.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16
"For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross." Col 1: 19-20
We consider this to be "holy ground". Whether at events, or by email, we conduct ourselves in a manner that is above reproach. We treat each other respectfully, as brothers and sisters in Christ... branches on the same vine, if you will. We all have rough edges, unresolved issues, wounds and fears. But, that's what the body of Christ is for... to love and encourage one another! :)
We believe the Bible has authority in our lives and is reliable in matters of faith and practice.
Since this is an interdenominational group, we will no doubt have a variety of opinions about various doctrinal matters and issues of our day. So, a good principle to remember is...
“In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things charity.”
Another good one is... "The truth, in love."
So, when discussions arise about topics that are not really foundational to the Christian faith, we strive to...
a) Have a solid biblical basis for what we believe to be true, and...
b) Express ourselves in love.
As we do these things, we will indeed show that we are living branches of the "True Vine".
