THE FEAST at Prop Theater

THE FEAST
by Tony Fiorentino
Directed by Brian Bell
http://propthtr.org/feast.html

Synopsis:
The Feast is a political satire and family drama set on Thanksgiving in the midst of the 2009 healthcare debate. It tells the story of Vincent Baker, a wealthy insurance magnate whose holiday gathering in the exurbs is shaken up by a harassing policy holder avenging a denied medical claim. Beset by family conflicts and crises of conscience, the Bakers are ultimately forced to confront the sordid underbelly of their wealth and reexamine their crumbling conception of the American Dream. The play was selected for the National New Play Network’s fall Showcase in Philadelphia, and was a recent semi-finalist for both the Stanley Drama Award and the Smith Prize.

This play most resonated with me (as I'm sure other chronically ill or otherwise!!). Plus, it was perfect, just nailed it! Insightful, amusing, smart, expertly acted-out & inordinately thought-provoking! How we need more writers (and actors) just like THIS given a chance to showcase their exceptional talent! Don't think the dialogue could be improved upon. One of the best ...if not the top--I've seen this entire year! Kudos to all involved!

I had seen The Feast a couple weeks ago, great play to a very timely event: dysfunctional family gathering. A lot of material fodder for a lively post performance discussion. Enjoy!.

Janet, the bar near the Prop is Chief O'Neill's. (We were trying to think of the name on Thursday at Hellcab.) I just rode past it on Friday.

Thx. for input Scott but NOON game shouldn't impact travel there from much of any direction (fans should be at game which will be underway during drive down LSD & ideally game s/b OVER & headed home before this play ends. Driving home is not as critical an issue--game should be over nearly at start of play PLUS one can certainly CHECK that before choosing route home).
