Shakespeare in the park | Taming of the Shrew - June dates announced | Free
Cromulent Shakespeare Company will be presenting Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" free in Twin Cities area parks in June 2018. The play humorously illustrates the folly of greed and a misguided approach to romance. “Shakespeare’s universal characters help us laugh at ourselves as we learn about our place in today’s world,” says Jopek. “A ‘blustering bully’ may actually be a fool with a lesson to learn. An outspoken ‘shrew’ might be hiding vulnerability. Conventional human attitudes are attacked among the ruffians, guardians, pretenders, jokers and lovers we meet in this play.” Cromulent's production opens June 1 and runs throughout the month, typically Thursdays through Sundays. Directed by Tim (Chief) Jopek. Each summer for more than two decades, The Cromulent Shakespeare Company has performed classic plays in outdoor locations in and around the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Set up a blanket or lawn chairs for the whole family, bring a picnic and sit back to take in a little bit of outdoor Shakespeare. What we're about

The Twin Cities offer some of the most varied and highest quality theater in the country. This meetup is for theater-goers who want to get together to attend and engage in discussion about performances. The group facilitates members inviting each other to get out and go to shows.

Come participate in this group! Contribute your ideas and energy to make the group a fun and stimulating way to learn about theater and meet fellow theater enthusiasts. Feel free to use the Suggested tab on the home page to propose an event that you would coordinate--just enter the specifics of where you are going, and when. With more than 2,400 people, it is likely that other people will join you. Please include information about where, when, and how to find you.

Dance performances and multi-genre live performance works with an emphasis on theater and dance are also appropriate here.

[Note: no standup comedy, musical comedies, or related; there are other Meetup Groups focusing on those genres.]

If you are affiliated with a venue or performing company, please contact the organizer privately for guidelines; you will need to find a staff person or volunteer from your organization who will serve as host to welcome and facilitate group discussion among Meetup attendees.
