Session details
In this session we will attempt to investigate sustainability in its broadest sense exploring some of the key drivers and associated social behaviours of this most complex of global issues.

In the first half we will try to take an objective look at the recent attention on plastic waste and its likely impact. What results can we expect from this attention and can it help secure a permanent solution? We will include a systems thinking perspective and ask what is the optimal way for an individual to support change?

In the second half we have a look at the phenomenon of science denial and an approach to counter it called inoculation theory. Of course denial is often linked to climate change but what approach works best when faced with denial of facts in any context. Is it to bombard with facts or is another approach more effective?

General details

Another Thinking Box evening of watching and discussing inspirational online talks. We will watch some of the best online talks and films on a variety of topics and then discuss informally in small groups and the whole plenary. All this with a diverse group of friendly thinkers with a coffee break in the middle and optional pub visit at the end.

Our programmes are carefully designed and facilitated to appeal to a wide audience and many of our members prefer not to know topics in advance. However brief programme details will be posted nearer the time.
