What we're about
Self-improvement can be a lonely quest. Once we falter it can be challenging to find a place where we feel accepted, where we can get back in the game and restart the work to change our lives.
Team:Life is a concept where we can use our enjoyment of community and social media to create a group of people who support each other throughout the entire year, not let go of each other and with love, acceptance and understanding, help each other break through to building good habits that support the change we want to make in our lives.
Project one is New Year's Resolutions. We'll use this age-old format to beat the odds. Studies have shown that only 8% of people succeed at their resolutions. With chances like that, I wonder why it's still a thing. I have no idea what our success rate will be but if we care about each other's goals as much as our own, if we practice forgiveness, acceptance and make our relationships with each other incorporate both empathy and encouragement towards performance, we will move the needle on our goals and our relationship to ourselves.
My bet is that resolutions fall into this bucket of self-loathing, into our fairly well-defined disgust with failure. We are about 100% sure to fail at our resolutions at some point. I think a positive, inclusive community who already knows and appreciates how hard it can be to create change can be a home where success is born. If you show up, if you receive the welcome, no matter how you've done so far, we'll keep our resolutions fresh and keep seeing those goals as awesome possibilities for ourselves.
We will meet in person every month and there will be other structures offered to help you on your way as well. I'm doing this because I want to be a part of a community that can be with each other's frustration and celebration equally well. That seems awesome to me. If we accomplish that, we'll put 8% in the dust!
