Koreatown East City Walk _Sixth Street & Mariposa Avenue

  • Dec 8, 2012 · 2:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Koreatown is a complex neighborhood and impossible to cover in one day.

So we will walk a few blocks on one of my favorite streets - Sixth Street and visit two shopping centers.

More details to come.

Hope to see you there.

Meetup Update Below:

Hello Everyone! First off, I changed the time to 2:30 pm. Here's the plan:

1. Meet inside City Center Shopping Center and roam around for 30 minutes to an hour. Shopping Center has a market, boutique shops, food court and a day spa. Free parking in its underground parking structure, entrance on Mariposa Avenue.

2. Walk along Sixth Street for a couple blocks, checking out the street level scenery and businesses.

3. Turn back around to Chapman Plaza to admire the architectural detail, browse the courtyard and end for coffee or bbq.

This popular Korean BBQ restaurant, Kang Hodong Baekjeong, is in this plaza, so to avoid the crowds we can end here for an really early dinner or just grab a drink or coffee.

& Its always a good idea to bring some cash.

Thank you again for joining me and can't wait to meet everyone!

Zandra and any one else who is interested, I have started a group called "Secret Stairs for Photographers" This is based on the book "Secret Stairs" There is also a group called "Secret Stairs". Secret Stairs are historical stairs in the Pasadena and LA area. I take the pace at a slower pace than the Secret Stairs group does.

Again thank you for your interest and comments, it is pleasantly surprising. Still finalizing the route for this event, so stay tuned. But in the spirit of sharing and meeting new people, i encourage the +1. & am looking for co-organizers to host more events. So if interested, send me an email. Thanks again.

I agree about the +1 situation, but nice to know the event is so popular! Perhaps there could be staggered start times so more members could participate.

If guests are allowed at a increasing rate, that is taking opportunites away from the actual members who completed profiles and wish to make friends ongoing and invest in this community of other members. Please reconsider allowing guests taking member spots, especially with such a long waiting list.

On these walks, will I have time to take pictures or is this more for exercise?

Love the idea of a photography walk!

Just curious -- why is the event capped at only 10 people?

Hi Peter - thanks for joining the group. I too love how Koreatown continues to surprise me. Recently noticed many cafes sprouting up with modern industrial interior design. Perked up my eyes. So i definitely intend to have more meetups in Koreatown. But as I am just starting out wanted to keep to managable size group. As i finalize the event, will consider if i can increase the size.
