Camping with Wolves

This 2 night 3 day camping trip takes us up to the Lakota Wolf Preserve. While in the observation of the preserve area we'll be able to watch the wolves play, interact with each other and with any luck, hear them howl. There will be numerous opportunities to get unobstructed pictures of the wolves in their natural settings through the "portal openings" in the fencing. Since you will be photographing the wolves where they live, in a stress free environment, you will get the best possible photo opportunities.

Camp Taylor campground adjoins the wolf preserve so we'll be right there sleeping along side our four legged friends.

Whether you are a veteran outdoor enthusiast, or a first time camper, you will find what you are looking for in their primitive tent sites, electric and water sites, cabins, or onsite RV rentals.

Be sure to call for your reservation. We'll be camping during the off season so there should be plenty of available primitive spaces. If your more of a cabin camper than make your reservations earlier.

Nothing like bacon and eggs for breakfast when camping!!

    1 · March 17, 2014

  • Dave on a V.

Tho I must say that the electric grill we had at lake George was an awesome bacon making machine

I've got a better set up now. Pop up 3 man tent with air mattress, propane heater, wool blanket and pillow. Not to mention the table, chair, laptop and jetboil. Plus I can generate our own WiFi Hotspot

Thanks Joe for getting a spot for me. Nice to have electric for space heater/electric blanket/electric grill. No more roughing it for me. Dave electric heat sure beats starting your motorcycle and warming yourself with the exhaust pipes every so often like the last time we went camping. The only thing that will be cold will be the beer and there will be plenty of it!!

I just reserved site 54 - electric and water. I only have 2 people on the site for now, they said I can call and add another 1 or 2 if needed. Anybody else wants to use this site, let me know.

A generator? It gives roughing it a whole new meaning

    2 · March 11, 2014

  • Brett H.

Sure if you want to call and make reservations I'll split a site with you. See if you can grab one with electric. If not I have the generator.

    March 11, 2014

  • Joe H.

Say, Brett, I would be interested in splitting a site. Let me know if you want me to make the reservation.

If I can get out of work early I'll come up Friday.

    March 10, 2014

  • Brett H.

Plan to cage it up early Saturday morning as long as it is not raining/snowing. Will have a tent, cooler with lots of beer. Not sure if we have electric at site but I have a 3500 watt generator if anybody wants to run a space heater, lights etc off of it. Will have my Husky 310 in tow to partake in any Saturday rides. Let me know if anybody wants to split a site. Dave if you can bring some of that apple moonshine that you had at the last camp trip that I was on I will gladly help you consume it!

    March 10, 2014

  • Mcfly

I'll take any open spots if any...I'll be caging it up....

Art & me will take 2 spots Ivan

I just reserved site 55 at Camp Taylor. The site has electricity & water. You're allowed to have 4 adults per site, so three of you can crash on 55 if you want. It will be $25 per person. Also, they apparently don't do credit cards at the camp or at the Wolf Preserve, so bring cash. Tours for the preserve are generally 10am & 3:30pm, but I was told we should call ahead to confirm times. Also, check in time is 3pm, so we wouldn't be able to pitch tents until 3pm.

I'm in on splitting a site
