Join us on Christmas Day for a fun lunch gathering at Paramount Fine Foods (, a wonderful, very affordable Middle Eastern restaurant in the Yonge/Dundas area.

During lunch, there will be a trivia quiz, with prizes for the best, worst and funniest answers!

Afterwards, we'll walk up to the street to the Cineplex Odeon Yonge & Dundas to see Saving Mr. Banks, a comedy based on a true story about Walt Disney's real life efforts to bring the story of Mary Poppins to the big screen. The film stars Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson and Colin Farrell.

Both lunch and the movie are optional. This means members can attend both events (lunch and movie) or just one event (lunch only or movie only).

Members can also join us for dinner after the movie! We're going to dine at the Market Garden Restaurant inside the Eaton Chelsea Hotel at 33 Gerrard Street West. You can RSVP for our dinner gathering HERE (

We'll meet at 2 p.m. at Paramount Fine Foods ( at 253 Yonge Street (,+Toronto,+ON&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x89d4cb34cae09f7f:0x64655571e3c099b8,253+Yonge+St,+Toronto,+ON+M5B+1N8,+Canada&sa=X&ei=08HAUMrtCoqP2gXa6oDwAQ&ved=0CC0Q8gEwAA), (1 1/2 blocks south of Dundas). Paramount is a great Middle Eastern restaurant that cooks Halal meat over charcoal wood and uses a wood burning oven to make its own pita bread. They also have a lot of great Baklawa made by in-house pastry chefs. You can order Middle Eastern sandwiches or full meal plates. A large upstairs table is reserved for our group. This is one of the few restaurants that will be open on Christmas Day. MENU (

THE FILM - Saving Mr. Banks

After lunch, we'll head to the Cineplex Odeon Yonge & Dundas to see a 4:20 p.m. showing of Saving Mr. Banks.

MOVIE PLOT: When Walt Disney's daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers' "Mary Poppins," he made them a promise one that he didn't realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney's plans for the adaptation. For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn't budge. He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp. It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history. This movie is running 85 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer. More information, rotten tomatoes ( and imdb (
