RECOMMENDED !!! Living Together (comedy, Soulpepper Theatre $23)

Join us for Living Together, a comedy in the Norman Conquests Trilogy It will be presented by the Soulpepper Theatre Company in Toronto's historic Distillery District.

Our group will save up to 70 per cent off regular ticket prices by purchasing rush tickets, which are usually best available on Mondays.

Living Together is the second in Ayckbourn's The Norman Conquests plays, but it must be emphasised that you do not need to see these works in order. Slightly less uproarious and more contemplative than its predecessor, Living Together takes us into the living room of a home occupied by a series of characters negotiating infidelity, misunderstandings, and endless personal baggage. As the chaos of the play spills into the dining room and the garden, Ayckbourn ties up loose threads and unravels previously tight ones, like the master dramatist he is. The structural genius of these three plays (followed as it is by Round and Round the Garden) gives some credence to the Time Magazine article that Teachout quotes from, suggesting him to be "the greatest living English-language playwright."

Approximate running time: 2 hours. There will be one 20 minute intermission.

ABOUT SOULPEPPER THEATRE: Soulpepper is considered to be one of the best small theatres in Toronto. It consistently offers professional, high-quality productions. It is also one of the priciest small theatres in the city. To save money, Thumbs Up will be going to Soulpepper's productions on Monday and Tuesday nights in 2014 when cheap rush tickets are usually in good supply. Please note a seat is not guaranteed for a rush ticket!

Arriving early for rush seats provides a good opportunity for socializing. It was an extra that we could all sit together. Thank you again Peter for organizing these outings. Cannot tell you how much I am enjoying the Norman Conquests.

The show was as excellent as last night's, but even more enjoyable as we all sat together in the front row, and got to share the laughs, and other special moments !! ... It was so special to have the opportunity to talk with Derek Boyes (Reg) prior to his performance - such an amiable, warm, and knowledgeable actor ... Sure hope to drops by to chat again on Monday, Feb. 24 for Part 3 of this series !!! :-) .. A special warm welcome to our new member Ch Vijay and his guest !
