Manual Settings - Sunrise
This workshop is free and is open to those photographers wanting to learn manual settings to capture that picturesque sunrise. We will arrive just prior to Astronomical Sunrise, and the coincidence of outgoing low tide, to capture the Avalon fishing pier.
We will shoot Astronomical sunrise at the fishing pier on the beach in Avalon, NJ. We will be set up by 6:25AM to capture the pre-dawn light, and when the sun pops over the horizon. Sunrise is at 7:17AM however the best light is before the actual sunrise. Low tide is at 7:42AM so we will be shooting with the tide going out revealing interesting sand patterns. After we are done with the sunrise, we will venture over to Uncle Bill's (dutch & optional) for a hearty breakfast (and restrooms!) Uncle Bill's is close by at Dune Drive & 32nd. After a leisurely breakfast, we will head over to the Cape May Zoo at 10AM for those that have signed up for that workshop.
Equipment needed: flashlight, tripod, camera with a moderate wide angle to moderate telephoto lens, and a cable release. If you have not shot on manual mode before, please read your manual before hand, and bring it with you.
This workshop is open to anyone....those wanting to learn/use the manual settings, or those more experienced that just want to shoot the sunrise.
Astronomical dawn is defined as the time that the first sight of lightness is observed and until the sun breaks the horizon. Most great sunrise shots happen before the sun breaks the horizon.
A RSVP is required so that in case of weather issues, I can e mail the attendees the night before with any changes to the meetup. Sunrises can be hit or miss........you never know. I will be there and shooting regardless of the number of attendees.
