Two different concepts are fundamentally associated with the exceptionally flexible word "love": attachment and generosity. The more commonly held definition is an "expecting" or demanding relationship, while in the mindset of civilized people, love expresses itself as a liberating and giving attitude. The "taking love" leads to feelings of attachment, jealousy, anger, and childish self-absorption, while the "giving love" encompasses the whole enjoyable realm of love, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity.
