Dr. Ted Rogers of ODU will talk to us about quantum chromodynamics: a quantum field theory in which the strong interaction is described in terms of an interaction between quarks mediated by gluons, both quarks and gluons being assigned a quantum number called “color."
If that leaves you a bit baffled, this one's a little better: In theoretical physics, quantum chromodynamics (QCD) is the theory of strong interactions, a fundamental force describing the interactions between quarks and gluons which make up hadrons such as the proton, neutron and pion.
We're going to learn *a lot* at this meeting. Everyone is welcome - bring your friends and co-workers along!
