The Canaan Valley of West Virginia, along with Blackwater Falls State Park and Bear Rocks Preserve offers some of the most fantastic autumn vista around our area! Also, Bear Rocks Preserve is arguably one of the most photogenic location for sunrises, mix that with the sea of red from the stunted red maple, the oncoming cooler temperature, and you get what I would call ‘Heaven on Earth’! It would be hard to imagine a place that has such an Arctic feeling, and be so close to home.
I have a beautiful log cabin (sleeps 12) rented for one week, from September 27th – October 4th. View house details here: http://tour.truplace.com/property/15/24/
NOTE: you will have to share a room and restrooms. We will be a community of photographers in one house and the best way to learn is by living it!
Workshop will officially start on October 1st at 4 PM. However, you are welcome to stay the whole week if you can. Cost would be $400 for those who opt to be with David and I for the whole week.
Easy to moderate terrain, getting to some of the waterfalls at Blackwater Falls can be a little challenging. The longest hike would be a 3 mile round trip to Lindy’s Point. For those who stay the week with us, we will challenge you with longer hikes.
Thursday (October 1st): Meet and greet at 4 PM, followed by sunset overlooking Canaan Valley.
Friday (October 2nd): Sunrise at Bear Rocks Preserve, follow by surrounding waterfalls. During the day, we will plan to go over some post processing techniques.
Saturday (October 3rd): Sunrise at Bear Rocks Preserve, follow by surrounding waterfalls. During the day, we will plan to go over some post processing techniques.
Sunday (October 4th): Sunrise at Bear Rocks Preserve and workshop conclude at 10 AM.
