Mumford Road, near bus terminal, Halifax, NS
As many of you have heard, Kent Homes has entered the Tiny Home market with three CSA certified models being manufactured at their factory in Bouctouche, NB. (See the CBC story here.) At the suggestion of one of our members, (thank you for the great suggestion Wendy Hanlan :) we have contacted Kent Homes and they are very happy to have our group visit and tour their Tiny Homes (Kent calls them MicroHomes) and factory.
Weather permitting let's do a road trip on December 10th. (We can also arrange alternate tour dates in the New Year for anyone that cannot make it at this time.) It is approximately 600km round trip and members are encouraged to carpool as much as possible. It will be approximately 3 hours of driving to get there from the Mumford Road Tim Horton's. Allowing some time for pit stops and lunch in Bouctouche, I suggest we start the tour at noon (12pm) and plan to be back on the road for home between 2pm & 3pm. This should put us back in Halifax by around 6pm.
If you are planning to participate, please let me know if are able to drive and take additional passengers or if you need a ride so we can make sure no one, who wishes to attend, is left behind. Alternatively, if you plan to make your own way there, please let me know, as well so we are not waiting for you at the departure point. If you are not able to get to Tim's in the morning, I will try to pair you up with a driver passing through your area.
If there is sufficient interest, I could also look into the cost of chartering a bus and arranging a buffet lunch somewhere. If we went this route, I would collect the costs from each individual up front in order to book and pay for the transportation.
Most vehicles will require $60-$80 in fuel and tolls for this round trip and it is requested that everyone carpooling share the cost equitably with your respective drivers.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please register for this Meetup as soon as possible so that I can apprise Kent Homes of our numbers and determine if the cost of a bus and buffet lunch somewhere would be feasible. Thank you.. Cheers!!
