• Tiny Bio: Lisa Marie

    Location visible to members

Come meet Lisa Marie, a resident of Portland, OR, who is currently living in a converted school bus. She'll describe her conversion project, her lessons learned, and things she would do differently, and there will be time for a Q&A session as well. If you've considered a bus conversion and would like to know more about it, come join us. This meetup is being hosted at a local restaurant. Please help us be good neighbors and consider supporting the restaurant by making a purchase while you are there. Thanks!

Each month we'll cover a different topic. For the month of January, we'll be discussing the foundation for a tiny house, which will include the pros and cons of building on a trailer vs on a foundation. Bring your knowledge, your ideas, and your questions, and join in on the discussion.

It has come to my attention that there will be tiny houses on display at the Maricopa County Homeshow January 13-15. This meetup announcement is for informational purposes only. I am not hosting this event. You do not need to RSVP to this meetup to attend the show. If you do RSVP, that does not give you admittance to the show. • Come chat in a tiny house

    Location visible to members

New to the tiny house movement? Wonder what it's like to live in a tiny house? I built and have been living in a tiny house on wheels, and I'd love to have you over as my guest. Come take a look at my house, meet other people who are interested in minimalism, and ask all the questions you want. My house is under 120 square feet, so I have to limit the number of people who can attend. Please be respectful of the limits of this meetup. If you reserve a spot and later realize that you can't make it, please update your reservation to allow someone else to take your spot. This event takes place on private property in an RV park. I want to maintain a good relationship with my neighbors and the management here. Please help me with that. When you enter the RV park, please obey all signs, drive slowly, and park next to the clubhouse. My house is in Lot #1, which is right next to the park's exit.

  • Watch Minimalism documentary

    Location visible to members

Come spend an evening at my tiny house and let's talk minimalism. Minimalism involves more than just tiny houses. It involves more than just paring down your material possessions. It's an approach to life that focuses on your true needs and desires rather than on the needs and desires that society dictates to you. As such, minimalism is intensely personal. I'd love to hear what minimalism means to you. There's a decent film called "Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things" that we can watch together and then talk about some of the ideas it presents. It has a run time of 77 minutes, or about an hour and a quarter, so I've scheduled the meetup to last twice that long. Since my house is tiny, and since showing movies in big groups of strangers is probably some sort of violation of copyright law, I'm planning on keeping the event small and hosting it more than once, so if you can't make it this time either due to previous engagements or if the meetup fills up, take heart. Please note that this meetup is in a private residence in a private RV park, so please help me maintain good relations with my neighbors by driving slowly in the park, obeying all posted signs, and parking by the office and walking to my tiny house, which is in spot #1, located near the exit of the park. Looking forward to seeing you and hearing your ideas about minimalism.
