If you can't make it tomorrow that's fine, I just want to get the word out and we need people making calls and sending e-mails too for the next couple weeks after this hearing tomorrow!
Senator Zeiger’s Tiny Home Bill (SB 5383) is being heard in the House Local Government Committee on March 19th at 10:00AM. Senator Zeiger would like to invite you to come to Olympia and testify before the committee if you are available. I have included details for testifying below.
Parking: The first attachment is a detailed map of capitol campus that shows all visitor parking yellow. I would suggested parking in the North or South Diagonal (to the west of the Legislative Building), but if those are full the visitor center (15th Ave SW/ Columbia St. SW) parking lot is another good location. It will cost $2 an hour to park on campus.
Room Locations: The hearings will be taking place in the John L. O’Brien Building (south of the Legislative Building) in House Hearing Room D. I would be happy to meet you in our office and show you to the hearing room and help make sure you get signed in okay. Our office is in the Newhouse Building (215 Sid Snyder Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98501) Room 109. There is a security guard at the front desk that will be able to show you to our office.
Signing-in: Signing-in to testify on a bill is very simple as it is all done electronically at the kiosks in the hearing rooms. I am happy to walk over to the hearing with you to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Testifying: The standard method usually goes, “Mr or Madam Chair and members of the committee, I am...” and be sure you also explain who you are representing. Depending on the number of people singed in to testify, you should have about 2-3 minutes to give testimony. After your testimony the Chair will give members of the committee the opportunity to ask questions of you. It is not very common for them to ask, especially because Sen. Zeiger will also be there, but I wanted to make you aware of the possibility. You can also find a very detailed outline for testifying athttp://leg.wa.gov/legislature/Pages/Testify.aspx.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and whether or not you can make it down to Olympia. Thank you for your support on Senator Zeiger’s legislation!
