• Tiny House Class! 5 Hours $150

    West Seattle

This class is held inside a finished tiny house in West Seattle. The exact address will be e-mailed after the purchase of a class ticket. The goal of this class is to explain the steps, time, and money it takes to design and build a tiny house that you will be able to live in comfortably. We’ll get you familiar with the tangible aspect of building a tiny house such as the insulation, siding, appliances, electrical, plumbing, etc. as well as the incredibly important, but often forgotten, intangible aspects such as permits, codes, financing, insuring and the legality of placing and living in your tiny house. Much of this information is a compilation of things I wished I’d known from the start as it would have saved me hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars. The class content is constantly updating alongside the tiny house industry. Whether you’re planning to take on the challenge yourself or have a tiny house company do the brunt of the work for you this class will give you the capability to make informed decisions during each step of the process. Regardless of the route you take, we want you to end up with a home that you are happy with. By the end of our class we’ll make sure you know which direction to go and what steps to take next toward your tiny house. • Updates on Legislation

215 Sid Snyder Ave Room 109 Olympia, WA 98501

If you can't make it tomorrow that's fine, I just want to get the word out and we need people making calls and sending e-mails too for the next couple weeks after this hearing tomorrow! Senator Zeiger’s Tiny Home Bill (SB 5383) is being heard in the House Local Government Committee on March 19th at 10:00AM. Senator Zeiger would like to invite you to come to Olympia and testify before the committee if you are available. I have included details for testifying below. Parking: The first attachment is a detailed map of capitol campus that shows all visitor parking yellow. I would suggested parking in the North or South Diagonal (to the west of the Legislative Building), but if those are full the visitor center (15th Ave SW/ Columbia St. SW) parking lot is another good location. It will cost $2 an hour to park on campus. Room Locations: The hearings will be taking place in the John L. O’Brien Building (south of the Legislative Building) in House Hearing Room D. I would be happy to meet you in our office and show you to the hearing room and help make sure you get signed in okay. Our office is in the Newhouse Building (215 Sid Snyder Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98501) Room 109. There is a security guard at the front desk that will be able to show you to our office. Signing-in: Signing-in to testify on a bill is very simple as it is all done electronically at the kiosks in the hearing rooms. I am happy to walk over to the hearing with you to ensure everything goes smoothly. Testifying: The standard method usually goes, “Mr or Madam Chair and members of the committee, I am...” and be sure you also explain who you are representing. Depending on the number of people singed in to testify, you should have about 2-3 minutes to give testimony. After your testimony the Chair will give members of the committee the opportunity to ask questions of you. It is not very common for them to ask, especially because Sen. Zeiger will also be there, but I wanted to make you aware of the possibility. You can also find a very detailed outline for testifying athttp://leg.wa.gov/legislature/Pages/Testify.aspx. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and whether or not you can make it down to Olympia. Thank you for your support on Senator Zeiger’s legislation! -Todd

  • Last minute TINY HOUSE OPEN HOUSE!

    Grocery Store

This tiny house is a little bit tricky to find, but if you meet the host Sophie at the Granite Falls IGA grocery store (115 N Granite Ave, Granite Falls, WA) she will guide you to her beautiful home! Meet us at the north end of the parking lot. Totally off-grid tiny house with completely DIY sustainability features including a home-made wind turbine, rain water catchment with biosand filtration, and solar air furnace. Completely designed and built by my father and I right down to the trailer which we made ourselves. I would be happy to answer questions about any aspect of the design and build process as part of the tour! Apologies for the last minute notice! The tiny house is being featured on one of the tiny house build TV shows and tomorrow is scheduled as the final "reveal" filming shoot. I did have two people lined up to be in the reveal but both had a cancel this morning due to work conflicts so we're in need of a few folks to take a tour on film. Willingness to be on camera is not a requirement for coming to the tour (we can definitely keep you out of the frame if you'd prefer) but we would definitely appreciate it! Thanks!! Sophie
