5:45 – 6:00 PM GATHER at YELLOWKORNER 654 Queen St. West (at Palmerston) Photo-gallery is based in Paris with 32 outlets world wide including in NYC, Berlin, Barcelona, Montreal and Casablanca. There are two branches in Toronto, one on West Queen West (opened in May) and the which opened in August 2012 at the Shops at Don Mills. The gallery specializes in striking limited-edition art photography by emerging and mid-career international artists, selling prints in several sizes, pre-mounted, so framing is not necessary.

6:45 – 7:00 GEORGIA SCHERMAN GALLERY, 133 Tecumseth. MEET the artist Fraser Stables at the OPENING of his Bestiary works in various media. Also MEET the CURATOR Gavin Morrison to DISCUSS his themed group exhibition (theme TBA).
7:05 – 7:20 SUSAN HOBBS GALLERY, 137 Tecumseth. OPENING + MEET Kevin Yates, to DISCUSS the the Washington-state-based artist’s enigmatic miniature dioramas and sculptures, often exquisitely rendered with astonishing verisimilitude in painted wood. Watch where you step, they are sometimes on the floor!

Opened May 2013. Owned by the same folks who created Torito tapas bar in Kensington, including chef Luis Valenzuelas + the warm and hospitable Veronica Laudes, whom we’ll MEET. The main dining room is open to the kitchen and features paella (including a vegetarian version with roasted quinoa and vegetable mosaic) + tapas “traditionale” including battered eggplant w. pomegranate molasses, fried artichokes + sardines; also tapas “vanguardia” including compressed watermelon cubes with cured ham chips ; At the front is a cocktail bar with the tapas-heavy Menu Del Bar.
