This talk addresses some of the practical considerations that underpin the hot topic of microservices. We will look at why microservices are popular, both as a technique for breaking up legacy monolithic applications and as a means of providing shared capabilities across an enterprise. We define what a microservice is (and isn’t) and how they change development practices. We will also consider what it takes to run microservices (because it’s not enough to write good code) and a popular deployment and operations pattern, container orchestration.
