Ganaraska Hiking Trail is a 500 kilometer long marked footpath from Port Hope on Lake Ontario to the south of the Blue Mountains. It consists of nine sections for each there is an End-to-End badge. Section End-to-End badge is available with cost of $3 -$7 upon the completion of the section. The Kawartha section starts on the rail trail, passes Lindsay, Scugog River , Victoria County Recreational corridor, and the Canadian Shield country to reach Moore Falls after 77 kilometres of very varied terrain. We will complete the Kawartha section over four hikes, scheduled for Dec 17, Jan 7, Jan 21 and Jan 28.

On Dec 17 after meet up, we will car shuttle to Moores Falls, Minden Hills(Country Road and Martine's Trail (https://goo.gl/maps/F46sBKYieZA2), a sign that says Ganaraska Trail members only, GPS 44°48'24.8"N 78°48'47.7"W)to start hiking.

Distance: 15 km

Difficulty: Intermediate to advanced

Pace: Moderate (4 -4.5km/hour)

Terrain: variable and challenge, ice and snow covered at certain parts.

Carpool: DIY. If you need a ride or are willing to offer, indicate your preferred pick up location and time in the comment section. It is suggested each driver takes 1 or 2 passengers and based on the approximate vehicle cost, each passenger contributes $30 ( 1 passenger) or $20 (2 passengers) to driver to share the cost.

The approximate vehicle cost = total km * $0.19 ($0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9).

Note: Bring water and lunch. Hiking boots. Icers may needed. No Dog. No drop out. This hike goes rain or snow or shine . The hike will be joined by hikers from other group/ the public.
