As usual great conversations, lots of laughs and mixture of familiar and new faces. I look forward to this meetup each month!

I enjoyed the book, and am looking forward for the next meeting in May

Great meetup for my first time, looking forward to the next one. I think we should do the book swap more often as the members are so varied with each meeting

  • Jackie

Unfortunately I will probably be about 15 mins late - a work meeting has run pretty long so getting out the door is taking some time. See everyone soon!

    April 29, 2014

    • Jen

No worries Jackie take your time!!

Not only did I not finish the book, but I also chose super inappropriate clothing/footwear to wear to work today and I'm feeling like a drowned rat. Have a great time everyone and catch you at the next one!!!!!

Hi Ladie, unfortunately I am unable to attend tonight's get together...Have a great time tonight and see you next month..

I too am struggling to finish this book, but I am determined to power through, even though I can not go to the meeting anymore. I find there is just too many characters and too much going on. It is very rare that I do not finish a book, which is why I am determined to follow through to the end, but... I do not think it is that good of a book. Okay, don't hate me, those that are enjoying it. ;-)
Have fun and hope to see everyone next month.

I loved the book (particularly Ifem's first experiences in America from a Non-American perspective was interesting to me given that I am an American) up until part 3. Now I am reading about Obinze in London and I am beginning to get bored with it.

I am torn about the book. There were portions of it I really enjoyed but the overall plot felt disjointed to me. I felt that characters were often introduced simply to make a point and then discarded at will.

New to this clu and really looking foward to going to my first event. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the book as yet - even at the neighbourhood Indigo. So I will give up my place to someone else - but look forard to the next event!

I was just added to this group recently and unable to grab the book, so I have given up my spot. I hope to make the next meet up!

  • Zoe

Couldn't get the book, and I don't think I'll have the time to read it. Hopefully the lady who takes my spot has a blast!

    April 21, 2014

  • Adrienne Van H.

I just got accepted thanks to others giving up their spots, but I haven't been able to get it in the library or read it in a weeks time, so I'll pass up my seat.

    April 21, 2014

  • liz

Still wasn't able to get the book from the library so it only makes sense that I give my spot to someone on the waiting list. Enjoy ladies

    April 21, 2014

  • Jessica

I gave up on reading the book, although the book swap sounds interesting. Since the waiting list is very long, I'll let someone else move up. Have fun! :D

Okay....is anyone else having a heck of a time with this book?! I hope it picks up, I'm about halfway through and not impressed so far.

I bought the audiobook and am so glad I did - it made more sense to me hearing the names and voices. Hang in there, i found it to be a really good story

      April 15, 2014

    • Jessica

I didn't think much of it, either. I gave up, sorry :/

Unrelated to April's book: the trailer for Gone Girl is out!

    I'm excited to see it!

I did not know this-it is going to be a movie!

    BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP

A woman with a rare form of amnesia must determine for herself — slowly and painfully — if those around her are telling her the truth about who she is. Highly anticipated film version of S.J. Watson’s thriller stars Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mark Strong.

As a result of a stroke, has no short term memory. He remembers only up to a decade ago, anything after is not retained. I cannot imagine. Looking forward to the movie.

I typically like movies with Colin Firth in them. Definitely going to have to see this one. And I concur with Jacquie above, a lot of books we have read lately have become movies.

In case I can't get the book on time, and their is still a wait list for this event, what will May's book be so I can get started?

    April 4, 2014

  • Stephanie

I presume it's OK to attend, even if I don't have any books to swap...?

    March 30, 2014

    • Ruth A.

      Definitely...the conversation is worth it!

      March 30, 2014

    • Jen

Hi Stephanie - yes if course you won't get any books to take home if you don't bring a book to swap but definitely join us!

      March 30, 2014

  • Renu

Already read Americanah. Great choice :)

I enjoyed reading The fault in our stars and am excited to share my thoughts on the book
