For those of us who did not have the opportunity to join us on our first exploration of the old abandoned Harvey Woods Factory, this is your second and last chance to take photos of this unique piece of Canadian history as renovations will begin at the end of May to transform this into a brand new affordable housing homes.

This is a special project that is near and dear to many as it is being headed up by a non profit organization whose goal is to preserve the historical integrity of the building while transforming it into a vibrant and affordable community living space.

As part of the transformation, we have been invited to participate in a silent auction of our photographic work. To participate you must come out and photograph the building and then donate a print of your image to the auction. The auction is for fundraising purposes as well as showcasing the beauty of the historic and abandoned building. We have been working closely with Michael Harding, former mayor of Woodstock on this project as our liason, and he has been very impressed by the work put out by the first group who visited back in November.

You can see the photographs from our original outing here:

We have been granted full access to the building on Sunday May 12th from 10am to Sundown to explore and photograph the building.

Woodstock is about 60 to 90 minutes from Toronto, near Brantford Ontario. We will once again attempt to organize a carpool. Anyone needing a ride or offering a ride, please leave a comment below.

We will meet at the parking lot of the building at 10am, where we will be greeted by our liason, and he will let us into the building. We are allowed to stay there until Sundown.

There is a lot of broken glass on the premises so it is very important to wear closed sturdy shoes with a good soles, bring a flashlight and of course your camera gear. There are many restaurants near by so we will end with a meal or coffee at a near by location before heading home for the day.

This is an excellent opportunity to photograph a historical abandoned building but also to showcase your art! I hope many of you will take advantage of it, and appreciate that your efforts will go to a good charitable cause.

See you there!
