In this talk, Emily will focus specifically on the role of a team lead in fostering a more inclusive and supportive company culture, and the impact that can have on diversity, inclusion and belonging within a company. She'll illustrate the importance of leads in sourcing and retaining a diverse team, as well as practical tips and advice on how to enact change within your organization towards a more inclusive and supportive culture and the critical importance of doing so.

About this speaker

Emily Porta is the Executive Director of Bridge, a Canadian non-profit providing free, advanced programming and product design courses to women, agender, and non-binary professionals in Toronto. Before focusing full time on Bridge, Emily worked as a Scrum Master at Rangle.io, where she also started and led a number of Diversity and Inclusion initiatives, including starting the company's Diversity-focused employee group, the Diversity Guild, which still exists today. A passionate advocate of doing the hard work to get marginalized people access to the benefits of the tech industry, Emily believes in a (near!) future where that access is a reality for all of us.
