Yo! This might get a little heavy, so sorry in advance, but you can thank me later...
Deep down inside all of us, in places that some of us are ashamed to talk about, are giant, pocket protector wearing, pop bottle glasses, geeks. Don't be ashamed. It's ok. Embrace your inner geek. Let him out of the cage every once and a while. Snort when you laugh. Admit that you relate way-more-than-you-should to Sheldon. And at least once a month, give up slaying dragons alone inside a tv... AND DO IT WITH OTHER PEOPLE! AND DICE! AND CARDS! OR DICE. LOTS AND LOTS OF DICE!
In case you're still missing the big picture - I'm talking about board games!!!! You know those things you played as a kid and probably hated because all you knew was Monopoly or you learned to steal from that shitty little white plastic tray and hide it under the board but then you probably also became a banker and not a startup rockstar anyways back to the point - BOARD GAMES!
Following on the wildly successful startup poker nights we've been hosting for the last couple months, we wanted to test the appetite for a slightly less chest-thump, more cranial, equally boozed up, monthly-ish startup get together. In the past based on my experience throwing these kinds of event we will probably see two very different groups of people showing up. I guess I'm a little excited to see if we cant get the other half of the startup equation out to an event, and this is my first attempt at pulling that off!
TL;DR Monthly board games! The third Wednesday of the month!
People will show up, propose / teach a game to who ever is interested, and then play it! We will have anywhere from 1 to 5+ games on the go, all different games, all different group sizes, all scattered around the company. If you feel like bringing a game, vouching for it and teaching it to the group - please do!
Some of the games we love to play, rule books, etc:
