Primitive Skills Walk

Amazing chance to do a primitive skills workshop with one of the best teachers around. Doug Getgood who has been a member and teacher for this group for well over a year and who is also the Chief Instructor for www.schoolinthewoods.ca will be running this workshop and will be covering (if time permits) Cordage Pitch Glue Arrow Shafts and how to straighten them. Baskets Bow making overview Fire-by-friction Traps Shelter A walk through the woods stopping at various plants and trees and showing/telling how to use them. Participants will make cordage and all will take part in building a shelter. Suggested Donation $10.00 There is a strict limit of 20 people on this so if you say Yes then come, No shows will be hung at the next social event. Also if you have not paid your membership fee of $5.00 please bring that too. Should be ended by 3pm This event is accessible by TTC via several routes. Map Quest shows the intersection of Sheppard and Bathurst however the location is a few blocks north of Sheppard at the bottom of the hill on the east side and just before the traffic lights for Sherman Campus. Look for a Canada Flag which sits on top of a tall flag pole - this marks the entrance way. We will also have a red and black Meet Up sign posted. You can only enter the driveway while travelling north bound due to the centre medium. Enter and travel slowly because of the steep curb and narrow winding asphalt. The parking is on the first and only left side just before the pillars which block the road. Thanks everyone

For anyone that arrives a little bit late we will start the walk in the forest at the north end just beyond where the cars are parked. Enter the woods and we should be in plain sight. After that go to the other parking lot on the right of the driveway and look down the hill west towards Bathurst. We may be around there and then moving on. Bring plenting of liquids.

In answer to Janis' question as to whether this event will be hosted again... let's wait and see how this weekend goes. If it goes over well and the people who have confirmed show up then I will check my calendar and see what's available for August. For those on the waiting lists - do you have any suggested dates?

I have just read some reviews about this location and the main complaint/concern had to do with mosquitoes. Please wear protective clothing and/or use repellent.
