Hello! Every game typically has 15-18 players showing up, regardless of Meetup RSVPs.
About the fee: This goes directly to Ryerson for rental of the pool facilities.
Finding the pool: Once you get to 40 or 50 Gould, just walk right through the arches and you'll see an old building in front of you. Consider this the main entrance for the athletics facility. Go down the stairs and the main desk will buzz you in when you mention the secret password 'underwater hockey'. Keep walking, down more stairs and through a long hall and you'll get to the changing rooms.
Monday Game Details
Monday games may feature slower paced action, training & strategy and are well-suited for beginners and intermediate players. Beginners will be given an introduction to the rules (please arrive early). Essentially a team scores points by getting the puck in the opposing teams net. You and your team mates need to work together to handle the weighted-puck, with wooden sticks, along the bottom of the pool. There are some detailed rules available online here (http://www.sfuwh.org/uwh-beginner-guide/rules) and here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underwater_hockey).
Please arrive by 8:45 so that we can organize and maximize our permit hour. Go directly to the change rooms to get ready and meet us pool side. In addition, at 10:00 we should be trying to quickly finish up out of respect to the staff who need to lock up.

Typically we have enough extra gear for beginners, however with a larger crowd some compromises may be needed. Check out this link (http://www.go-hsa.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7&Itemid=14&lang=en) to learn more about UWH gear. FYI, it usually takes about 15 minutes for everyone to gear up.
Basic swimming gear (trunks or suit, plus a towel)
Beginners should bring their basic swimming gear, however if you have fins, masks or snorkels, please bring them along.
Please let Emmanuel (http://www.meetup.com/Toronto-Underwater-Hockey-Club/members/53188512/) know your shoe size!
It would great if you bring your own gear! Gear can be purchased at some dive/scuba shops, however it's recommended checking out online stores such as CanAmUWH (http://www.canamuwhgear.com/).
Parking & Transit
There is metered parking along Gould Street that is free after 9pm. There are other pay lots in the immediate area but we are unsure of the associated costs. Make sure you check the signs! Ryerson Campus is an easy walk from Dundas Station on the Yonge line or via the 505 Dundas Streetcar.
A waiver will be required from all players. As part of the pool permit, there are 2 city lifeguards on duty while we play. However, foremost, we all look out for each other!
After Game Beer & Food!
The Imperial Pub (Library Bar on top floor) is less than five minutes walk. Other places nearby include Mick E Fynns a couple blocks North and several places nearby on Yonge St.
