Harbourfront Centre in Toronto is looking for some dachshunds for a performance in late winter 2013.
This post refers to an upcoming performance installation that will be presented as part of the World Stage season in Late February of 2013.
World Stage is Harboufront Centre's contemporary Performance series. Each year, Harbourfront Centre presents the best of theatre, dance and performance from the globe's trendsetters. The project is the work of an Australian artist, Bennett Miller. Mr. Miller first presented this installation in Melbourne in 2009 to great success and has since remounted it in Perth, Sydney and Birmingham in the UK. The presentation at Harbourfront Centre would be the North American premiere of the piece.
The installation will be presented to the public 4 times between February 28th and March 3rd and they are in search of volunteer owners and their Dachshunds to participate. Mr. Miller will be visiting Toronto in October and will be having a series of recruitment meetings the week of October 22nd at Harbourfront Centre and at local dog parks.
Harbourfront Centr is currently recruiting Dachshund owners to attend the meetings with Bennett Miller next month. He has always made a point of meeting the owners personally to explain the nature of the project as well as what is involved. Aside from the meeting next month, there will likely be one check-in meeting in January and then no other time commitment until the production at the end of February. Owners are invited to volunteer for one performance and are welcome to participate in more than one if they feel able to.
If you would like more information on participating, please email the organisers at [masked] or call 416.973.4237.
Meeting updates and further details will also be posted to the Meetup boards.
