New Orleans & the Bayou!

NEW DATES, REVISED TOUR! New Orleans is one of the most amazing cities on earth. Just outside New Orleans is the town of Thibodaux (TIB-ah-dough). We will spend time in each place and get to know some amazing local women! In New Orleans • We’ll have beignets at Café Du Monde, walk down Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, and catch some jazz at Preservation Hall. • We’ll tour a spooky cemetery with a costumed guide and visit the museums of Jackson Square. • At the Mardi Gras Museum of Costumes & Culture, we will learn about the history of the Krewes and play in their try-it-on-yourself Costume Closet for some fabulous selfies! • We'll take the trolley through the lovely Garden District, ending with an amazing meal at Superior Seafood. (Don't worry if seafood isn't your thing - there are plenty of other options on the menu!) • There will be free time for you to shop, visit the Voodoo Museum, or just wander this incredible city. In Thibodaux: • At Whitney Plantation we learn about the lives of children born into slavery in their own words, then go to Oak Alley Plantation for an elegant lunch. • We take a boat ride on the Bayou and feed the alligators! • We’ll learn to make authentic gumbo and real Louisiana pralines. • We’ll be staying at a local B&B owned by the woman who grew up in the house. • We attend an authentic crawfish boil. • In one of the high points of the previous tour, we enjoy a potluck dinner with women who have spent their whole lives on the Bayou. Hearing the stories of Black, Native American, Cajun, and Creole women is sure to be amazing. In general: • The food will be consistently amazing. So will the drinks – whether you prefer alcoholic or non-alcoholic libations. • We’ll travel by private van, trolley, and ferry. • Weather is always a toss-up but we’ll be there before the stifling heat sets in –although there’s NEVER any time where rain isn’t an option. $2899* (Airfare and alcohol not included.) • 7 nights accommodation o 3 nights in New Orleans, 4 nights in Thibodaux o Double occupancy - some single rooms are available for an extra charge • All ground transportation • All group admissions, demonstrations, and tours • 10 amazing Southern meals • All the Mardi Gras beads you can handle • *Sign up with a friend (or two) and you each get $100 off!
