  • Annual Celebration of the Haitian Revolution

    Prospect Park

I thought I could just quickly post a link about this but I don't see anything about it online! Very interesting... I just wanted to let everyone know that today (Saturday) is the Annual Celebration of the Haitian Revolution in Prospect Park. I'm sure many of you know of the significance of how spirituality was used throughout this struggle. It is all day with workshops and a powerful ceremony in the evening. During last year's ritual I saw (the Lua/Orisa) Ogun and received a beautiful message! This is an all day event from now until 10PM. I'll be there after 6PM- still with my Green and brown head wrap from Back Vegfest! The ritual portion is in the evening, perhaps around 7PM, after a day of talks and workshops. Enter the park on the Southeast corner (Prospect & Ocean Aves.) SEE MAP at . Look at the bottom, right-hand corner of the Park on the map and you'll see a huge lake! When you arrive, just walk in diagonally, veering left and you'll soon see a lake. If you walk along the lake you'll you'll see folks in white and a huge altar and you'll probably hear drumming. I hope to see you there. This is a truly powerful event.

  • Ancestral Winter/Dry Season Ceremony

    SAKHU HEALING ARTS CENTER

Greetings family, I hope that you are all adjusting to these cold, winter months! In the spirit of this time of hibernation and reflection, I'd like to invite you all to a ceremony to align with the energies of winter. Clearly winter is a time to go within, conserve our energies, and take stock. And so we gather to mark these times in our traditional fashion, receiving guidance from the Ancestral Realms regarding the road ahead. Please join us as Dr. Seshat brings down messages from the Ancestral Realms! Align with this divine wisdom and the energies of the season, and strengthen your daily practices. Experience the power of living a life guided by spirit! Please wear white or as much traditional clothing as possible and bring a vegan snack or beverage if you are inspired. This event is also an introduction to a collective of sons and daughters of the African Diaspora who are looking to be a part of a circle/community that receives messages from the ancestors and seeks to follow their guidance. Some gather weekly, others monthly or for certain events to celebrate our spiritual legacy and receive healing and guidance. Some of you will choose to get a reading with Dr. Seshat to reveal the soul's mission or remove obstacles. And while we hear of Orisas for the different seasons, ie. Oya for the fall, we should be aware that in Yorubaland, for example, there is no “winter”. In that region including parts of Cameroon and Nigeria, there is only the dry season and the rainy season! In fact, now would be the hotter, dry season! Just some food for thought... See you all soon! Dr. Ekenchole Seshat El
