This hike is rated INTERMEDIATE.
Come out for an evening hike from the North Mountain Visitor Center to the summit of North Mountain. We'll take the #100 trail and then catch the #101 trail, which will take us over to North Mountain. We'll start out on a flat trail and then there's a gradual uphill climb, but once we reach North Mountain, it is a strenuous (steep!) climb, but it is on the paved service road. For those who want a little extra, we can take the service road down to the end and then up to the summit. We'll hike it at a MODERATE PACE, not fast. At the top we'll enjoy stunning views of Phoenix at night and then head back down the way we came. You're encouraged to bring snacks, cameras, and must bring at least 1+ liter of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear. You should also bring a flashlight and/or a headlamp as we'll be in the dark on this hike.
