Easy Evening Hike to Stoney Mountain North

This hike is rated EASY.

Come out for an evening hike to Stoney Mountain North. There is some climbing so be prepared for some exertion. Trails are very rocky in places so be sure to wear sturdy hiking boots. We'll take the #100 trail eastward under 7th St (thru the tunnel and the "enchanted forest") into the preserve and loop around before coming back. You're encouraged to bring snacks, cameras, and must bring at least 1+ liter of water per person, sturdy hiking footwear and a headlamp or flashlight - a portion of the hike will be after dark.

DISTANCE: 3.5 miles round-trip
DURATION: 1.5 hours
TRAIL STYLE: Lollipop shape
DOGS: Yes, if leashed.
FACILITIES: Bathrooms and water fountains

Slightly warmer at North Mountain Park than at Rocky Mountain National Park (RNP) --- by about 70 degrees. We had a great time in Colorado but happy to be home hiking on our usual trails. Great hike everyone, thanks for hiking last night.

Looking at pictures of snow piles and snow-covered mountains in Colorado prior to the hike was a great way to cool down! Very nice hike and group last night. Thanks Nina for the perfect pace on the way back.

    Thanks Lonnie!
