Eccles Pass Loop
Distance: Approx. 13 miles
Elevation gain: Approx. 3,000 feet
Pre-Meet: We will Depart from the Woolly Mammoth Parking Lot (Section MM) at 6:30 A.M. Please be there a few minutes early. We will start hiking when we get to the trail head. Please let me know if you do not plan to meet us at Woolly Mammoth so that we are not waiting on you. If you do not meet at the "pre-meet" location, you are own your to make sure you are at the trail head and ready to go when we are. We will not wait for you. I generally recommend that, even if you do not want to carpool, you still meet us at the carpool location. You are welcome to drive on your own.
We will start from the Meadow Creek trail head in Frisco. We will hike out to Eccles Pass along the Meadow Creek Trail to Eccles Pass and the Gore Range Trail. We will then take the Gore Range Trail north for a few miles, connecting briefly with the Buffalo Mountain Trail and then finish along Lily Pad Lake Trail back to Meadow Creek (and, yes... there really are lily pads on the lake). This loop offers great and varied scenery with some great overlooks, lakes and streams along the way. It circles Buffalo Mountain. This hike is a long hike/day, and it will be important that we hike at a good pace in the morning so that we make it over the pass and back to treeline before mid-day storms start rolling in.
Extras: As with any Trails and Ales hike, you are responsible for yourself, but I recommend that you bring plenty of water/fluids, lunch/snacks, raingear, layers, gloves, etc. You may want poles on this hike. Also, it can be buggy around the lakes so mosquito repellent is a good idea. Please come prepared for any weather condition.
Apres Hike: Dillon Dam Brewery (Because they have the best cheesy BBQ burgers around!)
