Is Trance Mansion Dead?

Trance Mansion hasn't been heard from since our bomb in Webster Hall last April. So the question has been posited . . . is Trance Mansion dead?

Having another club night was never the idea of Trance Mansion. It was building community, being a catalyst for positive relationships, and getting progressive trance lovers together in as many outside the box ways as we were willing to try.

We tried to accomplish this by getting people outdoors, playing games like orgasmoball and twister, having pool parties and marshmallow shootouts at swank venues, and getting people to meet each other using icebreaking games.

Obviously this didn't work, or we simply weren't willing to invest more blood, sweat and cash to make it work. Whatever went wrong, or right, it just stopped being fun, and it just wasn't worth it anymore.

So my partner and I said fuck it and moved on with our lives. Yes it was bitter. But it was also sweet. We met some awesome people, saw some great shows, met some very cool djs, got to experience WMC, and had some unforgettable moments. Did we succeed in our mission? I think it’s pretty clear that we didn’t. But at least we tried to spread the music and positive vibes we loved, learned a helluvalot of life lessons, and didn’t lose our souls in the process.

So what’s this long-ass post all about then? It’s about what happens next. If anything. It’s a shoutout, an invitation, a clarion call to arms, with a glowstick mic adorned by ‘plur’ stickers emblazoned with flowers, ducatis, button-up shirts, mou5eheads and baggy pants.

Yes that’s up to you, the positive, communal-minded trance and progressive fans of NYC and surrounding environs. We’re either throwing in the towel, or passing it to others who can do something with it. Preferably envelope our city with the positive, loving, sexy, epic, life force that progressive trance can bring into this hip hop city.

Trance Mansion comes with (as seen on TV!):
1) an outreach of 4,000 Facebook friends + about 1,000 (Twitter, Meetup, Myspace etc.) mostly in the greater NYC area; 2) a certain degree of name recognition, websites, pics and content which are continuing to attract djs and industry peeps from around the world; and 3) whatever experience and contacts we can bring to the table.

BTW we want to give this to the right person(s) free of charge (success would be great but this was never about the money :)

So if you or anyone you know is interested in taking this concept over and running with it, which may include the most creative, strangest and funnest gonzo destinations trance can take us to (all I’m coming up with these days is Sunday brunches), then continue below.

A word to the wise: most people who’ve expressed an interest to us have been well-intentioned and presented with great ideas, but without the follow-through, experience or work-ethic to make something like this work. So your interest must not be a manic, substance-inspired, fleeting or otherwise unrealistic here-today-gone-tomorrow commitment. Having said that the upside is that you can take it over, and run crazy with it, to places we never knew it could go--with our initial tutelage, perhaps some support, and with decreasing levels of oversight as you prove you’re serious. I envision a team or a group with definite leadership, but I guess that's for us to figure out. One thing’s for sure, you can’t be a tool, not able or willing to work with others, or just be in it for yourself.

Send an email with why and how you think you can do this, what experience you can bring, what human networks or other resources you can tap into, any ideas or visions you have for this, or anything else you want us to know. And make sure you put “Trance Mansion Lives” in the subject heading or else your msg may get lost in the sea of spam and invites that has become our mailbox.

Regardless of whether TM dies or not, I want to wish all you guys love and happiness, and to try to remember to treat your fellow humans and animals with the respect and goodness you want the world to become.
