This group is for parents in the Dallas area who aren't originally from here and want to meet other transplant families. While transplants within Texas are welcomed, this group is intended for those of you who have moved from another state.
My story: I'm a born and raised New Yorker who moved here in 2010 for my now husband, and we have two kids (a girl born in September '13, and a boy born in February '15). I started this group to find others who want to do activities with our kids that aren't done as often here (Walking! Eating bagels!), and who understand what it is like to adjust to life in Texas.
I live in East Dallas so most of what I set up is near there and during the weekdays. However, any member can set up events (*see instructions below), so please do so and find other people in your neighborhood and/or at times that are convenient for you. This group's success has been built on member participation:)
There is an annual membership fee of $10 collected after a 30 day trial period. The fee is to offset the monthly meetup fee that an organizer is required to pay as well, as well as to cover a few fun group extras. We look forward to meeting you!
Facebook Group, Blog, and Scheduling Instructions
After joining the group, feel free to join our private Facebook group through the link below. We use this forum to share and talk about anything and everything, especially the babes and life in Dallas. It's a great resource for anyone new to the area to get recommendations from other transplants.
We also just started a new website to share out all of the information we discuss on our private Facebook page. Follow it through the link below, and if you like to write, message me about contributing!
*To schedule an event, go to the homepage of our group (http://www.meetup.com/Transplant-Moms-in-Dallas/) and right under the "Welcome!" text there is an option to "+Schedule a New Meetup." Once you click that, you just fill out the fields and your event is scheduled! I then make you an "event organizer." Please post what you're wearing day-of so that everyone can find you:) Happy organizing!
