19:20 - 19:45: The HLM developer environment – Build, deploy and test OpenStack clouds with Ansible - Tom Howley (HPE Helion Tech Lead)
This talk will give an overview of the Helion Lifecycle Manager (HLM), which is used for managing the lifecycle of the HPE Helion OpenStack cloud offering (from v2.0 onwards), from initial deployment to upgrade and reconfiguration. This talk will focus on the HLM development environment, based on Ansible and Vagrant, which is used for reliably building, testing and automating cloud deployments (for both developers and the CI infrastructure). It will also describe the overall HLM deployment lifecycle and its Ansible structure, which has been designed to promote re-use of playbooks across different lifecycle operations, i.e. not just focusing on the initial deployment.
Tom Howley is the Tech Lead for Helion Lifecycle Manager (HLM), the cloud deployment and lifecycle management framework of HPE's enterprise cloud offering, Helion OpenStack (HOS). Prior to this, Tom worked on HP's Public Cloud, initially working on the block storage solution and later focussing on the overall HA of public cloud services. Throughout his public cloud experience, he focussed heavily on the problem of deployment and update, which was based on Chef. Before entering the world of cloud, Tom worked in data analytics in the telecom sector and co-founded a startup ( https://www.analyzeiq.com ) based on his research into machine learning, in which he holds a PhD.
