Brazilian dinner -8/19/18 - 4:00 pm
Greetings to All: Since some of us will join a Friendship Force trip to Brazil in November, I thought a Brazilian dinner would be appropriate for our August ethnic meal. Since 8/19 falls in DC restaurant week, Brazilian buffet and BBQ, usually priced at $50, will be available at the restaurant week dinner price of $35. The place is Texas de Brazil. The address is 455 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. The closest metro stations are Mt. Vernon Square on the green and yellow lines and Judiciary Square on the red line. Parking is free in DC on Sunday. I have learned that it's best to arrive at Brazilian BBQ restaurants just after the buffet is set out, so we will arrive when Texas de Brazil opens for dinner at 4:00 pm. I know many of you will be out of town in August. I've made a reservation for 14, the max allowed without complicated financial planning. PLEASE RSVP ASAP. If it turns out that there are more than 14 of us, I will reserve another table under a different name. Restaurant week reservations are popular, so the sooner the better. Hoping to eat Brazilian BBQ with you........... JoAnn

    What we're about

Travel as a visitor, not as a traditional tourist. Make friends around the world. Learn about other cultures first-hand. How can you do these things? Come to our events and meet members of the Friendship Force of the National Capital Area (Washington, DC area) and hear our stories of our adventures. As part of our club, you can meet people of other countries and cultures by staying in their homes while visiting their country, by hosting them in your home, or by simply meeting them at events we hold during their visit. We share meals, conversation and the routines of daily life, creating a unique cultural encounter and lasting friendships. When we visit or host another club, the club organizes a program of activities to introduce the visitors to the local area (for us, this can include visits to museums, the Capitol, nearby cities such as Annapolis, and more). Our Friendship Force club is affiliated with Friendship Force International, which was founded in 1977 with the mission "to promote global understanding across the barriers that separate people." There are 375 clubs in 60 countries on six continents. Most of our members live in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia. We hold events throughout the metropolitan area, such as dinners or brunches in restaurants, pot-luck meals at various locations, a swim party/picnic, and more.
