CHARLESTON GALLERY ASSOCIATION ARTWALK
Friday, December 2, 2016
Official Charleston Gallery Association Artwalk. A fun quarterly event with over 40 galleries participating from 5 - 8pm serving refreshments and many of the artists will be in attendance.
The Saturday after the Art Walk, we can step back in time at Ft Moultrie on Sullivan's Island.
It is a National Monument and has an admission fee.
I will have a meetup sign posted on my burgundy Honda minivan at the Panera's parking lot.
Those who plan to carpool and leave their car overnight, it is recommended to leave your car at one of the protected JAX airport car rental lots.
You will need to book a hotel for overnight in the Charleston area.
For example, I was able to get a rate of $67 at the Sleep Inn on Wingo Way at Mt. Pleasant. It has a good rating. https://www.choicehotels.com/south-carolina/mount-pleasant/sleep-inn-hotels/sc036#!
For those driving to Charleston without stopping at Panera's, we plan to have the group start in the sitting area on the north side of the Old Exchange Building in Charleston at 5pm for the walk. However, last time the group meandered at their own pace and kept in touch by phone.
Dining will be on your own schedule. There are many dining locations in Charleston.
There are several parking garages in the Historic Charleston area. I am going to try to park at the East Bay/Prioleau garage, 25 Prioleau St if it is not full. Here's a list of parking garages in the area, a map, and parking fee schedule.
On Saturday, 12/3, we will meet at the entrance to Ft Moultrie National Monument at 9:30am. It's worth a visit if you've never been.
Fort Moultrie and Administration Headquarters:
1214 Middle Street,
Sullivan's Island, SC 29482
After visiting Ft.Moultrie I will start back to Jacksonville. However, at the prior event, several folks arranged with others to stay in Charleston for a 2-night visit.
