The GateGuru mobile app provides a comprehensive listing of airport amenities at over 115 airports worldwide. The initial version of the app was launched in 12/09, which many likened to "Yelp for airports", and was featured in an Apple television commercial. They released GateGuru 2.0 recently, which starts to fulfill a much bigger vision of a "day-of" travel platform. While TripAdvisor is for planning, and Expedia is for booking, GateGuru will become synonymous with "doing" travel.
Dan Gellert co-founded GateGuru in 2009. He is responsible for setting the company's strategy and executing its operations plan. He led GateGuru to market, including generating over 300,000 downloads, monetization of the product, partnerships with top travel brands including KAYAK, JetBlue and American Express, and over 100 press mentions. Prior, Dan was a venture capitalist with Time Warner Investments, a founding member of a business incubation group at IDT Corporation, and an investment banker in JPMorgan's Media, Telecom and Technology Group. Dan holds a B.S. from Cornell and an MBA from Wharton.
Dan Gellert will discuss their journey in building the product and going to market, and the challenges and questions they had in an intimate and open discussion roundtable. Listen to the secret of how GateGuru succeeded in a crowded mobile app market.
