Dear Globetrotters,

Hope you're enjoying the nice weather! A few things:

1. March Meetup
2. New location
3. Florence Guide

1. Our March meetup will feature founder and CEO of Tripfilms Tony Cheng.

When: Wednesday, March 21, 2012, 6:30 PM
Where: NEW WeWork Labs, 175 Varick Street, 4th Floor

Tripfilms is the largest travel video website with over 13,000 travel videos featuring over 4000 destinations. They share outstanding travel videos from real travelers for real travelers. The community numbers over 50,000 and Tripfilms is a place for 50,000+ travelers to share their experience, get tips and showcase their work. They also reward the best filmmakers with their own travel shows and paid travel assignments. They've partnered with a variety of travel blogs, travel publications (Budget Travel, Frommer's) and travel planning sites to distribute quality video content. They also are the go-to destination for tourism boards, pr agencies, hotels and travel operators looking to produce inspiring travel content.

Tony Cheng is currently co-founder and CEO of Tripfilms (, the leading online travel video website, which was started in 2007. He was a co-founder and CEO of IgoUgo (, one of the first user generated content travel websites, which was started in 2000.  IgoUgo won the 2004 Webby Award for the top travel site, and in 2005, IgoUgo was acquired by Travelocity. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.S. from Cornell University in chemical engineering.  He is the holder of 3 U.S. Patents.

2. We're moving!

We will also be moving the meetup to a new event space, as our usual NYU Poly space moved to a new location with more strict security policy and we won't be able to use their space anymore. Due to the increased cost of venue and running the group, we had to cap the number of attendees and increase the admission to $10. For those of you who've been coming to the meetup, I think you'd agree that the amount of learning and networking opportunity far exceeds the admission cost. We'll continue to invite insightful and high quality speakers and startups to deliver an enriching learning experience. (For those of you who've already RSVP'd, you're grandfathered in, no action needed.)

3. Florence Guide

Our meetup members Jennifer and David Raezer from the Approach Guides launched their new book on Amazon:
This Approach Guide walks through nine Last Supper frescoes located throughout Florence, explaining how the fresco style evolved a 250-year period.  The interesting thing is that half way through this period, Leonardo paints his Last Supper in Milan; and you can immediately see its impact, as many of his innovations are utilized in subsequent Florentine paintings. Hope you find it interesting!
