Hi Travel Buddies, We wanted to let you know that we have 6 different groups so the numbers you see responding to the number of attendees are correct. If you’re yearning for a trip that is filled to the brim with fantastic food, wonderful wine and amazing and unique accommodation then come and join Travel Buddies on this great adventure. Puglia may well be famous for being the boot’s heel of Southern Italy but what most people don’t realise is that it is also the culinary capital of the country and is the primary producer of Europe’s pasta and olive oil. What better place to experience La Dolce Vita?

This is the fifth time that Travel Buddies is making this trip to Puglia. Many of us have visited other parts of Italy but not specifically to the Puglia region, which is in the heel of the boot. It really is a superb trip from start to finish!

Not only will we have plenty of time to enjoy the superb culinary delights of Puglia in its famous restaurants and eateries but we will also venture through ancient olive groves, and amble along the streets of Bari where the women will show us how the region’s special pasta is made. We will also take part in a rustic cookery session where we get to try our hand at whipping up a proper Italian feast for dinner using local ingredients from Puglia.

The accommodation choices in Puglia ooze charm and authenticity and provide the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding area including Bari, Matera and the Itria Valley. We’ll start by staying in one of the beautifully renovated ancient caves that epitomise the UNESCO town of Matera then spend an evening in our own private conical stone Trullo's in the heart of Puglia’s rolling Itria Valley. All this combined with beautiful whitewashed towns of Bari and Locorotondo, the perfect Italian trip!

We will be sharing twin rooms throughout the trip although there is also the option to have a room to yourself for a supplement of £120 for the 4 nights. Otherwise you will be paired with a like minded travel buddy.

For full details of the trip please follow the link below...

4 nights in Brussels with Day Trip to Bruges.

Needs a location

The Fantastic capital city of Belgium is abundant in museums, palaces, squares, shops, and restaurants. We will spend our days roaming the city streets, visiting the iconic Brussels Mannekin Pis and learning all about (and sampling ) world renowned Belgium choccies. :) We also explore Bruges on a full day trip by train.

I have booked twin rooms in a three star hotel in the heart of Brussels that is an excellent base for travelling around the city.

We will be sharing twin rooms. Each room has an en-suite bathroom and a buffet breakfast is included each morning. There is an option to have a room (please note these rooms have single beds) to yourself for £120 for the 4 nights.

Day 1. Wednesday 1st June

Upon arrival in Brussels we will be taken to our hotel by private transfer where we will be able to store our luggage until we are able to check in.

Well we all know that Belgium is known for its fine chocolate so what better place to start than this!
Just a short walk around the corner we go to experience The Choco Story Brussels Museum, where we will enjoy a chocolate tablet making workshop. With the advise of the chocolatier, we will make our own personalised chocolate tablet and other chocolate specialities to take home! After the workshop we have an audio guided tour of the museum and get to sample the chocolates too.

Return to the hotel and have time to check in and freshen up before heading out to dinner.

In the evenings we will be booked in at at a reasonably priced restaurant with hearty Belgium fare, it will be fairly close to the hotel. You don't have to come but have the option if you would like to, Most normally do.

Day 2 Thursday 2nd June

We will meet for breakfast each morning to discuss our plans for the day and see who fancies doing what. We generally find that there will always be a couple of fellow travel buddies interested in doing the same thing as others so no-one gets left exploring on their own ( unless you prefer to take a little time out to do just that).

Today is a free day and there is heaps to explore in the city.. you might like.....

Mini Europe

Now this might seem a bit juvenile but when we were in Brussels 4 years ago it really was one of the highlights of the trip for me.

The best miniature park in Europe,

Europe in a few hours… A unique experience !

Mini-Europe is above all an “invitation to travel”. The chimes of Big Ben, the gondolas in front of the Doge’s Palace, the Grand-Place in Brussels, the Acropolis … an animated tour with visual and sound effects of 350 miniatures and attractions that you won’t find anywhere else.

Entrance is approx. 15 euros.

The Atomium

The Atomium was constructed for the first post-war universal world exhibition (EXPO 58) The nine spheres represent an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. They represent the faith one had in the power of science and moreover in nuclear power. You can pay the entrance fee and take a look around the exhibition centre and enjoy the 360 degree views of Brussels. Even if you just go for a look, it is quite a spectacle.

Magritte Museum.

The Magritte Museum displays works of the surrealist artist for which it is named. Located in the heart of Brussels at the Place Royale, the museum is housed in the neo-classical landmark Altenloh Hotel.

Manneken Pis.

This famous statue attracts thousands of tourists and is often depicted as the symbol of the city. It is a small bronze fountain sculpture depicting a naked little boy urinating into the fountain’s basin. ( Just because you can't spend a weekend in Brussels and not see this!!)

This statue is common knowledge. Not so many people know that there’s also a statue of a peeing girl (Jeanneke Pis), and another of a peeing dog (Zinneke Pis). Do your homework and find the coordinates of all three peeing statues so you can take home a series of portraits of the whole family!!

St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral.

The beautiful Gothic Cathedral of St Michael and St Gudula is situated at Treurenberg hill, which lies between the lower and the upper town. The Cathedral is the national church of Belgium and it is here that royal weddings and funerals take place.

Day 3 Friday 3rd June

Today we leave the hotel after breakfast to take the train to Bruges. The journey takes just an hour. Upon arrival in Bruges we will meet our private group guide and have a little stop for a drink ( not included) before commencing our tour of the city. We will learn all about the origin of Bruges as we see the city’s main landmarks like The Markt, De Halve Maan and Burg Square. And all of the hidden gems too! The tour will conclude after 2.5-3 hours where our guide will bid us farewell at a local eaterie for a spot of lunch. (lunch not included)

During the afternoon we have free time to explore Bruges ourselves before returning to Brussels on the train at around 18.00. Where we can get a bite to eat in the hotels restaurant if we so desire.

Day 4 Saturday 4th June

Today we have the full day to spend exploring Brussels at our leisure.

Day 5 Sunday 5th June

After checking out of the hotel and storing our luggage we will have the rest of the day to continue exploring before meeting back at the hotel in the evening to take our private transfer back to the airport.

7 Nights Exploring Albania, City, Mountains & Coast.

Needs a location

Hi Travel Buddies, We wanted to let you know that we have 6 different groups so the numbers you see responding to the number of attendees are correct. Members from other groups are added as a +1 of the host. They aren't made up numbers so please do go ahead and book in confidence that the trip will be going ahead. Emma 🙂

Join Travel Buddies as we travel to Albania, which may be a little country but it offers a lot to see and do. Bordering Macedonia, Greece, Kosovo and Montenegro, Albania’s long coastline is one of the most ruggedly beautiful in the world.
While Albania is slowly becoming more popular with tourists it remains extremely undiscovered, as well as almost completely unspoiled. Albania boasts some of the best examples of Ottoman architecture in the world, along with supremely clear Mediterranean air and stunningly fabulous beaches.

I have wanted to arrange an Albanian tour for the group for some time now and am so excited to have finally finished it. This week long adventure combines the City and culture of Albania, the amazing mountainous landscapes and the stunning Albanian Riviera.

Our Albanian guide who will be staying with us for the duration comes very highly recommended to me by another Travel Buddy and he has guided and advised me as to how to create a perfect itinerary for us.

From great food, swimming in a lagoon and visiting a war bunker to browsing bazaars, crumbling ancient castles and the sunny beaches. It is all here! I really hope this trip does Albania the justice it deserves :)

Day 1. Sunday 5th June.
After meeting at the airport and arriving in Tirana at lunchtime we will take a private transfer to our hotel where we will be staying for the next 3 nights.
We will be sharing twin rooms unless you wish to have a room to yourself for the supplement of £155. You will need to pay this at the same time as the balance. Breakfast is included each morning.

Located 550 yards from the Skanderbeg Square, the Brilant Antik Hotel 4* offers individually designed rooms with free Wi-Fi, comfortable bedding and handmade furniture with carved details. The elegant restaurant with fireplace offers traditional Albanian specialities.
Each room comes with satellite TV, a minibar, desk and bathroom with shower and hairdryer.
A variety of local and international drinks can be sampled at the bar.
The National Museum and the Art Gallery are just 350 yards from the hotel .
A vibrant area of Tirana with bars and restaurants is a short walk away.
After checking in we will embark on a guided walking tour to get ourselves acquainted with the city.

Dinner will be at a traditional restaurant local to the hotel.

Day 2. Monday 6th June.

Today is packed full of history and culture. After breakfast at the hotel
we will be met by our guide and head to Shkodra the most important city of North Albania.

We will walk in “Gjuhadol” a pedestrian area of Italian and Austrian architectural influences before visiting Rozafa castle.

After a busy morning we go to Mrizi Zanave Agritourism for organic lunch, here we have a choice from multiple traditional seasonal starters and main dish ( lunch is not included and is 15 Euros)

After lunch we depart for Kruje, centre of Albanian resistance against the Ottomans where we will visit a rich Ethnographic Museum with items from the end of the 18th century.

Finally, we make our way through Kruja’s famous Bazaar full of traditional handicrafts and souvenirs, where we will spend some free time before driving back to Tirana where we will arrive early evening.

Day 3. Tuesday 7th June

Free Day.

Today we have a free day in Tirana to do as we please.

The Travel Buddies trips work on the basis that as long as you are having a good time then that is what matters, if you don't feel like coming on one of the excursions or joining the rest of the group for dinner one evening then that is absolutely fine. This is an adventure for everyone and there is nothing worse than having to go somewhere/do something that you don't really fancy!

Feel free to do as much or as little research as you like, some members will know what they would like to visit as soon as they book the trip, Others will just turn up at the airport and have not researched at all. Either is absolutely fine. We all have different ideas as to what constitutes a great time away!

Final evening dinner locally in Tirana.

Day 4 Wednesday 8th June

After enjoying an early breakfast we will check out as we embark upon the next destination in Albania, Berat. We will spend only one night here but it is definitely worthy of a visit.

No, We visit Lumes, en route.... where we can swim in the natural pool ,whose crystal clear waters comes from underground source, or just spend some time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views. A hike in the forests will take us to the Dragon’s cave where we learn about his legend, the dragon who one day got angry with the men, burned their village and killed them all, leaving only one girl alive who cried every time she returned to the village and her tears formed the Sineci natural pools.
