What we're about

We are a group of home-educating families who enjoy gathering for parties, park days, hikes, moms nights, field trips, and other educational opportunities. We are an inclusive group; all religious and non-religious families and homeschooling philosphies (classical, unschool, parent-public partnerships, independent, religious, secular) are permitted to join.

This is and always will be a cooperative group. We expect members to participate and contribute to help it thrive. In a nutshell, the things we expect from members are:

1. A drama-free online presence and physical presence. Let's be respectful of each other.

2. Attend at least three (3) meetups each year. We strongly encourage you to attend as many events as you are able. If there are currently not any activities planned that will suit your family, please feel free to plan some! We'd be happy to help you add it to the calendar and promote it to the group!

Please plan to attend all events with your child; children may not be dropped off at an event unless prior arrangements have been made with another adult attending the event.

3. Pay dues within 60 days. We are asking a donation of $5 from each family per year; this donation goes to paying for the Meetup website hosting fee and for event supplies. We feel that this is money well invested, but we give you 60 free days to decide for yourself! If this is a hardship for your family, please contact us. We would be happy to work with you. You may either pay dues through this website or in cash/check at one of our events.

4. Make your profile picture a picture of you and include your full name on your profile. We want to know who you are when we see you, and we want to be able to pick you out in a crowd! Changing your profile picture to a photo of your beautiful (or handsome) face will enable us to find you and invite you to join us when we are at a public venue.

5. Please be sure to read the directions thoroughly when signing up for field trips and events. Please monitor your RSVP and waitlist status; if you are on a waitlist when you really can't attend something (or are already signed up for another day/time for the same kind of field trip), please remove yourself so another family can attend.

When you sign up for a field trip or party, you are making a commitment to show up. We all understand that things happen (suddenly sick kids, family emergencies, etc.), but when a family doesn’t show up (without changing their RSVP for the event or changing it so close to the start of a trip that no one on the waitlist can possibly attend), it shows disrespect for the venue hosting us, for the people who planned and worked on the event, and to the families that were on the waitlist to attend, but couldn’t because there was no room left.

Please remember to change your RSVP if needed AT LEAST 48-72 hours before an event. If you absolutely must change your RSVP within 24 hours of an event, please message the event host about why you're missing the event AND change your RSVP. Failing to do so will mean you are counted as a no-show for that event.

After two no-shows, you will receive an email from us, warning that you will be put on probation after one more no-show; after three no-shows, you’ll be put on a three month probation. During that probation period, you will not be able to sign up or attend any events. After the probation, you will be allowed to sign-up for events again, but if you have to be put on probation again, you may be asked to leave the group.

Thank you for helping us save money and time and maintain a good reputation in the community by showing up for events!

Finally, a note about our calendar: Our calendar will include Meetup organizer-coordinated events (parties, field trips, park days, etc.) and will occasionally include educational community events. We will not promote businesses and multi-level marketing events on our calendar.

Please contact us if you have questions or concerns! Thank you for being a part of this group!
