What's on your bucket list?

What’s on your bucket list?

Everyone I know has a wish list or bucket list of things they’d like to accomplish, places they’d like to go, and/or things they’d like to do one day. I don’t know what’s on yours, but this year I’m going to work on (at least) one of mine.

I’ve always wanted to do a triathlon. Let’s try a tri! Now, before your eyes glaze over and you move on let me just say that I am a true beginner, just like many of you. And we will be starting from the beginning. And I’m not talking about a full triathlon. We’ll be doing a Sprint Triathlon, which is much shorter. Still curious? Read on.

A Sprint Triathlon contains running (or walking), biking, and swimming segments. I’ve done some research and picked one that’s a ways off (cause we need plenty of time to train). Click the link to read more about it. http://labordaytriathlon.com/  It is only a quarter mile swim, a three mile run/walk, and a 10 mile bike ride. Don’t worry…we’ll work up to that. And in the research I’ve done so far it is recommended for your first tri your goal should be to finish. It doesn’t have to be fast or pretty, just get to the finish line. Well, I think I can do that. Can you?

To train for this I’ll be posting various meetup events that are fitness related. These events will be go at your own pace as I know we do not all start at the same level of fitness and ability. Attend all or some, don’t attend and train on your own – the choice is yours.

Additionally, feel free to join us on some of the fitness related meetups if you just want to get some exercise in. A great side benefit of working on this goal is increased health and fitness. :)

Please note this meetup is not for the actual event (but is on the same day). You are not actually RSVP’ing for the race at this time. I’ll post a second meetup later for that.  I’m posting this meetup to find out who’s interested right now. Please RSVP for this event if you are (like I said, this is not a commitment to the event yet, it’s a sign that you’re interested in training and possibly doing the event). By doing this I can communicate information during the months of training to everyone who’s interested without having to comment on a bunch of different meetups.

I hope you decide to join me in what will certainly be a challenge and an accomplishment you can be proud of!

See you soon!

Kay

Hi Kay, I saw the email but I guess I'm still not clear. Is there another event open yet we should be RSVPing to?

I have done these before and they are loads of fun. The only time I have for training currently is Saturday afternoons and Sundays until the summer time. If that works then I need to get my bike tuned up and my speedo ready.

Hi Peter, Our training meetups will be at all different times (except weekdays when I work). Feel free to join us when you can and train on your own when your schedule does not work with the meetups on the calendar. Also, as you've done these before, if you have any advice shoot me an email. I'd love to hear it. Thanks :)
